We have stayed at the MCM Elegante several times for special occasions. The rooms are high class and the furniture in the suites is not the normal hotel furniture. It reminded me of Pulaski furniture if you are familiar with it--a high end more decorative furniture. I felt like I was really somewhere special. Don't skip out on breakfast, either. The breakfast they serve in Hemingway's Restaurant was wonderful as well with omelets made to order.
If you are a seasoned traveler you notice right away you are entering an old hotel that is trying to be something they aren't. The facility is tired and the rooms were stale as well as the hallways both in appearance and in smell. Staff could use some customer service training as there was nothing welcoming or outstanding about the way they handled the check in or at the check out I had to wait over 15 minutes trying to raise someone from the back when finally a lady came out and it was obvious she had been sleeping. Yes it was early but not that early 5:30am to catch a flight out of Port Arthur. The food is overpriced (I did room service) and not anything special and was an unusually long wait for delivery to the room. Will I stay at this property again ... NO not at the current room rates and quality of property.
Look I know that hotels need to fill their rooms to say open. But the booking person needs to look at the rooms available and who is booking. All kids baseball teams need to be put on one floor and one floor only, the same with college and HS reunions, everyone with that group one the same floor. We were in town for a wedding and a large group of kids and parents were in town for a tournament. We were lucky enough to be next door to a family of four and the DAD of al people was the noisiest. Slamming the door and cursing at the top of his voice.
Now the great stuff, The lady in the café that makes omelets is AWESOME and needs to be paid twice what she gets. The rest of the food is good and the room was comfortable other that the paper thin doors. The property is sprawling and well maintained. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Prices were good for a large hotel. I have not stayed at this property since it was a Hyatt or Hilton Many, Many Years ago. This new company only has 5 or 6 properties and they do a really good job.
During the past nine years we have held our International Christian Spiritual Warfare Conference's at this facility. The staff has always exceeded our expectations. The continual efforts of the management to help us with guest traveling from Pakistan, Canada, London and many other countries with their Limo services has saved our members hundreds of dollars over the years. Our prayerful thanks to Bill, Brenda Gray, Ms. Lori, Troy, and others that made this past conference the best ever. All of our conference attendees made their reservations here as best we know. Our conference includes evening general assembly services and daytime classes.
Thank You MCM Elegante Hotel for the excellent services, foods, cleanliness and hospitality.
