This hotel is in a fantastic location, right in the heart of downtown Asheville. It's well worth the extra cost to be able to walk right out the door and into the action. Plus, the price includes lots of extras - free wifi, free breakfast, free parking, champagne at check-in, and nightly turn-down service with delicious chocolates. Who could ask for more? Rooms are very large and well-appointed, and the decor is charming. The remnants of the building's history as a department store just add to the charm. (Except that my husband thinks the children's mannequins on our floor are a little creepy.) :-). We loved our stay at Haywood Park!

Had a double-booking situation at the ALOFT (wrote a negative review for them) and Haywood came to the rescue! we arrive to Asheville road weary on the first night of our honeymoon, dreaming of a soak in a big whirlpool tub, when we were told our reservations at ALOFT were overbooked. After scrambling to figure something out, biding our time at dinner, the Haywood was able to get us a giant suite for that night and the rest of our trip. We were welcomed with chilled champagne and superfriendly staff. The hotel is old, but its neat the way they incorporate the vibe of the historic department store that the hotel now occupies. The room was super clean and well equipped, and most definitely the most luxurious suite we've ever stayed in. Two GIANT rooms on the corner of the buidling with giant windows over looking the Asheville downtown. A giant bathroom, with a giant whirlpool tub, beautiful marble everything. This room was definitely the highlight of our honeymoon! The location is fantastic, walk steps to restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Thanks Haywood for saving the day!!!

Room Tip: if you are going all out, the suites are worth it!

I stayed at the Haywood Park Hotel for 3 nights last week. I had booked the hotel online, choosing it mostly for its location. What a good choice it turned out to be! First, it's location is perfect - it's in the heart of the downtown action, within walking distance of many good restaurants, coffee shops and cute boutiques. To add to that, it's a sweet little hotel. At check-in we were greeted by a warm, professional staff who instantly made us feel at home. Before sending us up to our room we were offered a glass of champagne or chilled bottled water. Our room was very large and well appointed - looked exactly like the photos on their website. Included with our room rate were several little niceties that are often extra charges - valet parking, in-room wi-fi and breakfast. The breakfast is at an adjacent coffee shop and it's not very impressive but it's enough to get you started for the day. Their dinner restaurant - Isa's Bistro - is another story. We ate there our first night, being tired after a long day driving. It was wonderful. My husband and I split an appetizer, salad and entree. All were expertly prepared and delicious! Kudos to the chef. Overall our stay at the Haywood Park was delightful right up to check-out when they gave us a "goody bag" to enjoy on the way to our next destination. Smile for the little surprises that make a difference. I would recommend this property. It's a refreshing choice among a sea of chain hotels that appear everywhere in Asheville.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the street. It got a little noisy early morning when trash collectors and other...

The Haywood Park Hotel is such a treat! From the moment the friendly bell cap greets you, takes your bags and guides you past the player piano, you know you are in for a treat! After check in, you are given a complimentary champagne and then escorted to your room. As you get off the elevator the "voice" announces what floor you would have arrived at in the original department store. We were on third floor, children's department. Beautiful sitting area right off the elevators. The rooms are spacious, fun furnishings and light fixtures. Huge bathroom. Turn down service with chocolates. So much fun and that's not even the best part....the hotel has the best location for getting to wonderful restaurants, shops and services all within walking distance! Noise not a problem for us at all....Room 301.

Room Tip: I had read that noise from the street was an issue...we had room 301 which had an alley below window...

This is a great hotel for business travel to Asheville. You are right in the middle of the downtown. The rooms were huge and comfortable. The setting is unique given the history of the building. Only downside was spotty wifi.

My wife and I stayed at the Haywood and had a superior King suite facing the street. The noise was constant and into the night. If you are here to party all night then this would be a great central location, if you are here to sleep at night and site see during the day… find another hotel. The comp breakfast at the cafe within the facility is truly pathetic .. At the room per night charge they should be offering much more. eggs and back with toast etc, on paper plates… well expected at a Hampton Inn… but not at the per night charge here.

Room Tip: not sure if they have interior rooms.. but if you like to sleep at night, a street facing room will...

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. It is only through guest comments that we are able to enhance and refine our product and service. We are located in the heart of downtown in an historic building. Part of the charm of our prime location in downtown Asheville is the eclecticism and uniqueness that our local artists and street performers provide. However, on occasion this can allow for some street noise to permeate our historic building. We are in the process of adding soundproofing layers to our windows. Additionally, we have a few rooms on the west side of the building that do not face the street but rather the building next door. While these rooms have a limited view, they are quieter and offer respite from the street noise. In offering breakfast complimentary as a winter promotion, we continue to make enhancements and improvements to our offerings. Our most sincere apologies that you were not extremely satisfied with your stay and that it was anything less than stellar. We do hope you will allow us the opportunity to welcome you again and exceed your expectations.

We decided to stay in Asheville at the spur of the moment late in the afternoon yesterday, and decided to check out the Haywood. From the minute we checked in we where treated great! A free upgrade to a suite, a free glass of champagne, and kind and courteous service from Ed behind the desk and the nice lady that came to work later in the evening. Although the rooms may be a little dated, they are elegant and clean. They offer wonderful toiletries, robes, slippers, great coffee, comfortable beds and large marble bathrooms. It could not have been a more convenient location, and we walked everywhere. To our surprise we also received a hot breakfast and a thank you card and gift bag when we left. Downstairs was a nice restaurant where we met friends for a drink. I have stayed in some of the best hotels in this country and The Haywood Park is one of my favorites. She may have a little age on her, but she makes up for it in good bones and comfort, and the courteous and mature service can't be beat! Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable.
