“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2011

My sister and I decided to have a sisters weekend away. Saw your ad in the AAA book and decided to stay there . My sister and I went in and was greeted with a smile and a Southern Hello from the desk clerk Vicki she was very helpful with all of the answers that we had and took time for us. The room was great nice flat screen Tv's and micowave and fridge. The views from our room was Excellent! The breakfast was hot and nice for the guest, We plan on going back in the future and can't wait to see Vicki again. Great place and price.

Absolutely loved our stay at this hotel! Clean rooms, comfy beds, very nice breakfast (even on a very busy Saturday morning), & very friendly staff.

Vicki (the lady at the front desk), thank you for bring so friendly & helpful. You're a true example of southern hospitality. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Asheville.

My husband and I booked our stay at Sleep Inn West based on the reviews we read on Trip Advisor. It seems to be the only reasonably priced motel in Asheville with very good reviews. Those reviews proved to be spot on. From the time we first walked into the brightly lit and clean lobby until we left, we were entirely satisfied with our stay. Our room was a nice size and clean. It was quiet and very pleasant. Everything worked well, from the shower head in the large and well-lit shower to the fridge and microwave. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good for a motel in this price range. One little extra that we really appreciated were the many outlets located in all parts of our room – with 2 laptops, and camera batteries and cell phones to charge, we appreciated this convenience. We plan to stay at this motel whenever we stay in Asheville.

I found this hotel on TripAdvisor and was very impressed by two things: the reviews and the PRICES. We paid about $60 per night for three nights (including one weekend night) in March. We made reservations online a couple weeks before arriving, and the price was even lower because we paid in advance. We checked in fairly late (about 10:30) on a Wednesday night and the staff member at the desk was pleasant and cheerful. She offered us a map of Asheville. We had requested an upper floor room and were given a room on the top floor. Unfortunately, it was near the elevator and ice machine, but we never heard any noises from them when trying to sleep, so it wasn't really a problem. The room was a decent size with the typical amenities. There is no tub, but the shower is large and comfortable. My only complaint was that when I tried to open the shower door for the first time, the handle came off! I was able to put it back on and it stayed the rest of the time. There's not really a view, but we got plenty of views at Biltmore and the Arboretum (see other reviews). There was always warm water, the TV was new and had plenty of channels, and there's free WiFi. The internet did require me to "log in" (accept Sleep Inn's terms) several times per session, which was kind of annoying. Breakfast consisted of biscuits, warm gravy, sausage, boiled eggs, yogurt, apples, bananas, make-your-own waffles, English muffins, muffins, danishes, bagels, toast, and instant grits and oatmeal, with coffee, juice, and milk to drink. The hotel is about 10 minutes from Biltmore and downtown Asheville; very convenient. The beds and pillows were comfortable, but the "comforter" was some kind of slippery thing that was always falling off during the night; I woke up cold a couple of times, and there was no spare blanket in the closet. (We probably would have been given another one, but we didn't ask.) Overall, we had a pleasant, comfortable stay and the great rates allowed us to see and do more in Asheville since we weren't spending too much on our hotel.

We really appreciate you taking the time to share your comments! I am so glad we were able to exceed your expectations. I have tried to determine what room you were in so we could take a look at that shower door handle, but I am not sure simply based on your review. Perhaps you notified the clerk of the issue at check-out? Also, I will look into the log-in/accept terms issue you had with the Internet ASAP. I will also share your comments about the bed comforter with our GM, so the next time we order comforters we can make sure to choose some better quality ones. Again, thanks so much for your input, it's comments like these that help us continually improve our service and accommodations!

The staff was both gracious and helpful. The room was lovely - both very clean and well appointed. The location was perfect for the activities we chose and we scooted all over Asheville. It will definitely be our hotel of choice on return visits.

This motel needs to add a microwave to their breakfast room! Then maybe they would be worthy of the Choice Gold Award or whatever for 2011. Their breakfast offerings were good though and included: coffee/tea, juice, bananas, rolls, bread, egg patties, sausage, etc. A microwave would have been convenient to warm up the lukewarm eggs and sausage! Our room had a nice view of the mountains. They did provide copies of the Wall Street Journal.
They did not have a pool, however that is not necessary, and many motels down south which had pools did not have them open yet this winter!

We really appreciate your comments! I am glad you enjoyed the variety of our breakfast options, but I am disappointed to hear about the quality of the hot items we offer. We actually used to provide a microwave in the breakfast area, but new corporate policies prevent us from doing so any longer. We do have one in the pantry area, which guests are welcome to use with our assistance. However, the hot items should be served HOT, so we have taken steps to ensure that they are served properly in the future, and I apologize for the issue during your visit.

Please come back to see us again soon!

We stayed here three nights while visiting the Blue Ridge and Biltmore mansion. Bed was very comfortable. It was quiet except for a freight train about a block away. We had our window open, so a light sleeper would here it. Not a big problem though. Good breakfast with waffles available. They also provide a good written directions to several sites, restaurants, and stores. Wendy's, Applebees, and Cracker Barrel restaurants within a block. I would recommend this hotel.
