As a long time member of the Choice Hotel chain, I have stayed many times at the Comfort Hotel and Comfort Suites because they have always been a step above the Quality Inn and Sleep Inn brands. But this property is RIGHT UP THERE WITH THE BIG SHOTS. It is really worth a stay. Recently upgraded by the Franchise Owner, I give lots of props for their efforts. Weekday prices were good and competitive with other hotels in the general area. Most of them, as does this one, really increase nightly prices for the weekend nights. My Thursday night stay was $66.50 (plus tax) and my Friday night jumped to $$117.50. I checked the current on-line price for tonight (Sat 4-22-17) and the quote was $186!!
However, going back to the real purpose for this review, again I give it up for the renovations and as well the great and warming staff. Thanks Vanessa!! The daytime manager told me to say that, but really Vanessa was great, helpful with local info and suggestions. One concern was that overnight, the central staircase from the 2nd to the 1st floor, marked as an Exit, was closed off until 9:00 AM each morning, "for the comfort of our customers", whatever that meant. To me, it could have been a Fire Department issue. Just sayin'. The one other consideration is that the breakfast, although most of the basic items were provided, was slightly below the standard you might find at the other Choice Inns. Not a big breakfast eater? Then it is just fine and enough for the kids. Formed egg pucks, canned "sausage gravy" and greasy sausage (links one day, patties the next, bacon would have been great), were the main items. A single waffle griddle was an expected standby. Area was kept clean and items refilled before running out. Good work by staff.
My next stay in Asheville will be at this Sleep Inn.
