Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Quiet Hideaway
My husband and I enjoyed a long weekend at this mountain home, along with our two adult children. We never used the downstairs bedroom or lounge area, only the garage. We loved the view! The furnishings were attractive and comfortable, and we loved the gas fireplace being so easy to operate (remote control)... cozy. The master bath is fabulous, with a large soaking tub as well as a great shower. The other bathroom is ordinary... adult children did not complain. The owner includes so many nice touches—e.g. a basket of afghans or throw quilts near the porch door, plenty of kitchen items, a bag of gourmet popcorn and bottle of wine that our son and daughter enjoyed. And the place is pet-friendly and provides both WiFi and Netflix (maybe more) so that one doesn’t need to feel totally cut off from the world (we once stayed at a mountain home in Cashiers where cell phone coverage seemed spotty to almost non-existent...not a fun feeling). We don’t ski, but it was somewhat interesting to see the ski lift and ski runs so close by (for me, a spot to walk the dog). One could practically take the ski lift home in winter, I suspect. The long driveway is paved but steep. We felt intimidated—not comfortable with the limited sloping space to turn around—so we only parked one small car in the garage and left the minivan elsewhere. But that may be a common challenge with mountain homes, and I suspect we did not stay long enough to become comfortable with that element (might have helped if we tried more often, but we were happy staying put). We did not realize how strong and wild the wind can become living up that high on the mountain. Cool factor to experience in some ways, annoying in other ways (the constant whipping around the house and rattling doors for two full days before the weather changed). We packed supplies with a lot of forethought and did not need to make any grocery store runs. A good thing, because nothing is close! But we had a lovely time together with plenty of good food, puzzles, games, and books (lots of interesting choices provided).

We arrived to a very dirty house: dirty sheets in the master bedroom (had hair and dry, crusty patches), filthy master tub (filled with little black hairs), floors and furniture were dusty, wets towels in the washing machine, dishes in the dishwasher, rotten food in the fridge, and the house clearly hasn’t had a deep cleaning in years. The location was great; close to the ski lodge, secluded, and amazing views. The owner was very helpful with providing information on the home and fun activities for little ones. She even provided a welcome gift... extremely thoughtful. The house is fully equipped. They even had board games, high chair, piano, books, Christmas tree with decorations, etc. Very convenient for a family with little ones. I would highly recommend hiring a new cleaning person or checking their work before a new family arrives. I would give it a perfect rating if it was clean.

Amazing view and welcoming cabin
My family and I were fortunate to stay over the Labor Day weekend. The cabin had a nice floor plan and a lot of really thoughtful touches - my nephew particularly appreciated the box of Legos and the rest of us enjoyed the board games and great kitchen. We did have trouble connecting to WiFi every once in a while but honestly, we didn’t miss it much because we spent most of our time on the deck taking in the beautiful scenery. The owner was super nice and communicated with me both before and after our stay to make sure we were happy! She even left a great welcome book with suggested restaurants and activities, which is how we learned about the hike to Big Bald Mtn, one of the highlights of our trip!

Very good place to relax well above the summer heat of the piedmont in North Carolina
The house had all the necessary amenities and the openness to enjoy the mountain air. There were also some well thought out creature comforts to the house. Pleasant stay and would come again.

Marvelous Mountain Memories
This mountain cabin is a perfect place for family togetherness! Our big family had plenty of room to enjoy singing by the fireplace, playing games, cooking, enjoying both firepits, hosting a "dance party" for the little ones in the den, and just enjoying time talking and laughing together. The weather kept us from long hikes, but we did enjoy walking the mountain road and a few hours tubing at nearby Zip n Slide. The view from the deck is awe inspiring! The owner Tami is a delightful person who has stocked her cabin to meet many of your needs. We felt at home and blessed in her cozy mountain cabin :)

What a View!
We brought our 1 1/2 year old and met some friends and family here and it was a perfect house for us. Very kid friendly (baby gate protecting stairs to bottom floor) and the rooms were very comfortable. We loved sitting by the fire inside and the chimnea out on the deck once the sun went down. The house is for sure up on top of a mountain and once you drive it a couple times it’s easy to access. It was worth it and we had such a relaxing vacation!

This was a great place for our family to spend the week!
My family spent a wonderful week up on the mountain this past July enjoying this home. The house was clean and had everything we needed for a busy vacation with the kids. We had relatively short drives to go zip-lining and rafting. We spent a morning hiking to the top of Big Bald Mountain on a trail running right out of the resort itself and made several trips into Asheville to see the Biltmore and to shop. We cooked on most of our evenings and sat out watching just beautiful sunsets out on the porch. We'll definitely look forward to coming back sometime.

Stunning Escape into the Blue Ridge Mountains!
We were at this mountain house in the last week of August, 2018. Finding the place is made simple with Tami’s instructions, and the second we showed up we felt our vacation had started. We brought up a growler from a brewery downtown Asheville, stopped by a pizza place in nearby Westerville, and enjoyed our magical sunset out on the deck. There was plenty of space and the whole unit is tastefully decorated (and very clean!!). We were able to relax our first day and enjoy the beautiful weather, then the next morning took a hike up nearby Big Bald (super easy hike for everyone!). Asheville was filled with amazing restaurants and some great bars, some of our favorites being Sky Bar at sunset and the Book Exchange - a champagne bar bookstore on the Grove Arcade. Thank you Tami for a wonderful place to relax!

Nice place in the mountains
It was a nice place to stay for the weekend. The driveway was a little steep, but the house was beautiful and had some great views around it. There were some trees blocking the view off the balcony so it wasn't super easy to see the rolling mountain tops in the distance, but what you could see was still really nice! The only really down side is that the "fourth bedroom" only had a cheap little futon in it. It was more like 3 true bedrooms and a room with a cheap futon nobody wanted to sleep on. overall, I would absolutely stay here again! the Wolf Laurel resort is beautiful and the house was a perfect delight to stay at!

Best time of year to visit
This cabin was perfect for getting away from the city to spend time looking out at the beautiful mountain views. Visiting in late September/early October is a wonderful time to visit as the colors of the trees start changing and the weather gets quite chilly. The cabin sits on a great part of the mountain, making the deck a great place to enjoy a hot cup of coffee in the morning. Everything was nice and clean, apart from a few spiders we had to see out the door upon arrival. Also the thermostat didn't seem to be working but there was a fireplace in the living room we were able to use to warm up a bit. Check out instructions were nice to have to make sure we left the place in good shape. Most places we visited (Mt Mitchell, Downtown Asheville) were about an hour away so be prepared to drive a lot if you plan on venturing out of the Wolf Laurel Resort area. Overall it was a great time!
