“Can't say enough positive things”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2009

There are not enough positive things to say to describe what a wonderful experience we had staying at the Black Walnut Bed & Breakfast Inn. The owners are gracious and welcoming, the Inn is just beautiful, the food and overall experience is absolutely the nicest we have ever enjoyed.

My Wife and I stayed here for a long weekend during out aniversary. When we drove down the street she saw the house and it was the best house on the block. The decor was nice inside and the host were great. Their beds allowed me to sleep in comfort and wake to a wonderful 3 course breakfast. Every night they had good wine, food and conversation if you wanted in the lobby and on the large front porch.

I would reccomend this B&B to everyone who loves service, comfort with style and great food.

We spent two nights with Peter and Lori White and their wonderful dog Belle. We loved every second of it. The warmth of the two of them and their place, the fantastic rooms - absolutely fantastically appointed with a great mix estate treasures and contemporary amenities like big king sized beds. But what topped it off was the wonderful "tea room" and the AMAZING breakfasts that greeted us every morning. Peter and Lori are both seasoned pastry chefs and you can tell - WOW. As they warn on their website, if you're on a diet, find another place to stay. If you relish good wines, amazing evening d'oeuvres and confections, and three course breakfasts, on top of comfy beds and working fire places, then you must stay here. We are major B&B fans, and this one tops all.

The Black Walnut Bed & Breakfast was amazing. My wife and I went away for three days and enjoyed every one of them. Peter and Lori (owners) are extremely nice people. They gave us great opinions and suggestions on what to do and where to eat in Asheville. Also, the food they prepared for us daily was unforgettable. Ablsolutely amazing...from the three-course gourmet breakfast to the hot and cold hor's douvres with wine or tea in the evening. We look forward to a definite return trip in our near future.

  • Liked — The friendliness of the staff.
  • Disliked — Nothing...everything was great!

We live in Weaverville, NC which is about 12 miles from the Black Walnut B&B Inn. We couldn't get away at this time of year for our 20th anniversary, so I Googled, the best place to stay in Asheville! And it was! Wouldn't have changed a thing, Lori and Peter are fabulous hosts. Every detail was thought of. The place was stunning!

Thank you so much and we will be back!

The Black Walnut Bed & Breakfast Inn was a spectacular honeymoon getaway! Aside from an amazing location, in a beautiful home, with breathtaking rooms, my new wife and I were greeted with hospitality we never even expected or imagined. Though there are many things to do in Asheville, NC, we wound up spending most of our time our suite, the Ivy Garden room. The jacuzzi bathtub was of regular use, as was the fireplace. We give the Black Walnut five stars in every area! We recommend it for anyone wanting to go on a romantic getaway. It was an absolute blessing to spend the first days of our marriage together at the Black Walnut Inn.

And by the way, the food and pastries were breathtaking. No more words necessary.

  • Liked — The beauty and elegance of the inn.
  • Disliked — Would have liked a dvd player in the room with a larger television.

I had never stayed at a bed and breakfast until my husband and I stayed at The Black Walnut for our honeymoon. It was fantastic. The house was spotless from top to bottom. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Every time we walked through the door someone from the staff greeted us and asked if we needed anything. We stayed during Christmas time and the entire house was decorated. Each room had its own fully decorated tree. Our room had a gas log fireplace and the mantle was filled with a few small miniature trees, fresh garland and ornaments. The rooms were even more lovely in person than how they were pictured on the internet. This place is brimming with Christmas cheer! I absolutely loved the atmosphere the owners, Peter and Lori, created for the holidays. They go to great lengths to make their home warm and invitng. I would definately stay there and again!!!
