Brookstone Lodge
Ranked #38 of 66 Hotels in Asheville
Reviewed 28 March 2014

The Brookstone was adequate. It appeared that the building was be refurbished. Our room was clean, but hot even without heating unit on. The most frustrating thing was the poor service from the front desk. We asked for directions to a specific place and were directed through downtown streets when going on the interstate would have been easier.

We stayed at the Brookstone Lodge this past weekend. I think our party booked about 10 rooms, plus the banquet room, for Fri and Sat nights.

The staff was simply incredible. We interacted with the front desk, the cleaning staff, the laundry room folks, the breakfast buffet folks - probably the entire staff by the time we left. They were just awesome - - - so helpful and accomodating for an important weekend for our family - our Great Aunt's 90th Birthday Party!

Thank you so much for all of your hospitality !!

(Oh, and having the Fun Depot right across the parking lot was a great destination for the teenagers in our group - - they loved getting the all day pass and being able to walk back and forth! Moe's, down the street, made a fantastic barbeque dinner, too... highly recommended !!)

We stayed here in October and went to the Biltmore. It was a short drive to town and ti the Biltmore. The rooms were clean and comfortable. They let me use a government employee discount which helped significantly. I would stay here over and over again. The pool was a bit chilly but the hot tub was super hot and both were very clean. Best deal in Asheville. Oh and if you have children the sandy bottoms trail rides were the best experience there. It's a bit of a drive away but so cool.

There was no mattress pad. Hair was between the mattress and the sheet! I asked the front desk for a name of a street downtown so I could enter it in my gps so that we could explore downtown shopping. They had no idea! How can you live in Asheville and not know? The shower was sluggish to drain and there was soap dispensers attached to the shower wall like a public restroom. The only reason I chose to stay at this place because it was close to the house and the photographs look pretty. mistake!! Mattress was awful and the pillows were as hard as bricks! To top it off, the morning coffee was awful! How did this place get good reviews?

Good place to sleep -- clean & comfortable, the usual free breakfast of cereal, muffins, fruit, yogurt. The location is good for getting to downtown, the River Arts District, the Biltmore House or the Blueridge Parkway. There is nothing scenic here, but good rates for staying here and heading out during the day. I'll go back!

Room Tip: I have read other's posts "not near the elevator"

Had a very pleasant 3 night stay here. Room very comfortable; a little noisy but tolerable (they had informed me about that particular room & had cut the rate for that reason). Staff helpful, pleasant. Furnishings and bed very good quality. Good location in terms of getting around but not a very scenic part of town. Tended to be busy and kind of noisy in general but indicative that it was popular. The building & grounds are kept up well.
