“Good location & friendly staff”
Reviewed 11 October 2010

My husband & I just returned from a trip to Asheville this week. We stayed in the petite room for 3 nights. We were warned from the get go that it was very small, but we didn't really care, since we didn't plan on staying in the room much. I don't recommend that room if there are 2 people & you have a lot of luggage. It was really nice, but just to small for 2 people. The hotel is really close to The Biltmore. It's a good 3 or so miles from downtown. The free breakfast was great! Had a lot to choose from and tasted good. Overall the hotel staff is very friendly and was very clean.

Stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed our visit. The rooms were very clean and very comfortable. Great beds. Towels were not very soft.

The staff at the front desk could have been a little more attentive. They tended to be more involved in talking to each other, cell phones, etc.

The location was good in that it only took us no more than 10 minutes to arrive anywhere in Asheville. The area around the hotel is nothing to speak of, but many of the chain restaurants are located in the middle of strip mall areas; so this was better in that regards.

We would definitely recommend this hotel, especially on its cleanliness.

Our stay was pretty good. In light of the recent "bed bug scare", I did alot of research for this trip. The room was vey clean but small, we stayed in 407 which was next to the elevator. We checked in later in the evening and the individual at the front desk gave us the impression we had interrupted them...not very welcoming. Really, no one (front desk/breakfast staff) addressed us except for housekeeping...she was very pleasant. I would recommend this hotel, but it could use some southern hospitality.

I actually appreciated the fact that the hotel was right off of the highway as my husband and I didn't intend to spend our entire vacation in downtown Asheville. We were able to get to the other sites we wanted to visit easily without any traffic. That being said, it is maybe a 5 minute drive to ge to downtown Asheville and there is a ton of stuff closer, including the Biltmore. We were on the 4th floor so we didn't have any of the noise problems that I've seen other people mention, however our matress was very hard, which we're not used to and so that was a little uncomfortable. With the exception of the mattress the room was fantastic, honestly better than I expected for the price. The room and the bathroom, honestly the whole hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly. the only thing that we didn't like was that the exercise room shared a wall with the pool with a big window so when you're working out you have people watching you, just a little awkward. Other than that its a great hotel for a really inexpensive rate.

Even though you are literally next to the 40 and 25A, it still feels isolated from the irritating downtown bustle of Asheville. It is small and has ample parking, making it the ideal place to go at the end of the day and just relax. The rooms have chairs and a nice big bed. The jacuzzi rooms all face the highway, and I brought ear plugs, but didn't need them. Active Seniors in the hotel were noisy in the mornings but I am an early riser so that didn't bother me. The breakfast is fantastic. The fitness center is tiny, with only one treadmill, but we did a lot of walking around at Biltmore and Grove Park Inn. The doors to the room don't shut all the way on their own, so make sure you push it shut. The neighborhood is kind of industrial, but there are great antique stores nearby. The housekeeping staff was perfection. If you tour the Biltmore, we recommend that you look around the grounds first and start at the mansion around noon or one when it empties. Otherwise you are in a giant mob. Get the audio tour or read up on the house before you go. The winery guided tour was a packed claustrophobic nightmare, particularly when they stuff a huge group in a giant glass box to look at George Vanderbilt's car. Just tour on your own, you still can have the wine tasting at the end.

The Brookstone Lodge appears to be recent renovated, so the rooms are very up-to-date and clean, nicely decorated, with granite counters, refrigerators and microwaves in every room. The location is convenient to the Biltmore Estate and Village, Blue Ridge Parkway, and not too far from other shopping and the downtown area. Our only warning would be to avoid rooms 207 and 407, which are right next to the elevator, where there can be a lot of noise. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful and allowed us to change rooms during our stay. WiFi access was good, but there are a limited number of TV stations (for example, no TLC or HGTV). The complementary breakfast was good, including waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, pastries, yogurt, etc.

We stayed in room 209 at the Brookstone Lodge for two nights in September of 2010. The service we experienced there was exceptional. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We had stayed in Asheville one time before and ordered some delicious delivery pizza. We could not remember the name of the place so we asked the front desk staff if they could help us find it. They knew exactly where we were talking about and they were more than happy to print us off a menu and answer all the questions we had. The pizza place is called Franks and I highly recommend their pizza! I was very impressed with the decor and cleanliness of the lodge and our room. I used to be a housekeeper and when we stay at motels I always bring my lysol and spray the room down before we settle in but I did not feel like I needed to do that here. The room was very clean and smelled wonderful. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were nice and fluffy. The jacuzzi tub in the room was huge and the water pressure in the shower was good. The location is ok. There is alot of traffic. Fun Depot is next door and the Asheville Mall and Biltmore Estate aren't far away. The things we liked best were the pool and the complimentary breakfast. We took our 5 month old in the pool for the first time here. The thing we liked least was the fitness area. Just because it was smaller than we were expecting and a little smelly. Overall it was a great trip and we were very pleased with the Brookstone Lodge. If we are ever go back to Asheville we will be staying here again!
