At Creekstone Cabin you're only a 20-minute drive to Asheville and the best the area has to offer in attractions, entertainment, dining, shopping, outdoor activities, and more. INSIDE THE CABIN The upstairs loft is accessed by a narrow spiral staircase to the catwalk (see pictures) leading to the bed area at one end and the dressing area at the other. Please mind your head up here as the ceiling is vaulted and the highest clearance is only 6 feet. The bed faces creek side, letting you drift off to sleep to its soothing sound. When you awaken, you will find yourself just below canopy level looking down on the moss and rhododendron-covered back yard; a great way to greet your day. The downstairs bedroom has a double bed and is also faces creek side so everyone gets lulled to sleep by the burbling creek. The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, bakeware and your serving/dining needs. The kitchen has a microwave, toaster, mixer, utensils, paper and cleaning products, and full sized stove and range; everything you need to prepare a great meal. In the cabinet above the microwave you will find growlers to a couple of our local breweries and we hope you put them to good use! The living area is a great place to relax for conversation or a good book in front of a crackling fire. Enjoy a movie from our library or stream from the cabin's Netflix account or your own streaming service via ROKU. Use your mobile device to stream your own music playlists through the Bluetooth equipped surround sound system. My cabin provides a great blend of rustic feel with the modern conveniences of the digital age. The well lit bathroom has modern fixtures, and offers a shower/tub combination. While small it has what you need including hair dryer, soaps and shampoo in case you run short, and all your linen/paper needs. OUTSIDE The three season deck is just about every guest's favorite feature; a spacious 16' x 20' with gas grill, teak furniture, tiki torches and deck umbrella complete with lights! Great for entertaining, reading, watching the humming birds, goldfinches, and cardinals all to the backdrop of the burbling creek. To sit out here wrapped in the nurturing embrace of the woods will renew your strength and replenish your spirit. Off the back of the deck is a path that leads across the creek and into the national forest. Enjoy a short hike to Stonybrook Creek (1/3 mile) or a 3 mile round trip journey up to the abandoned logging road on the ridge line above the cabin. Take a walk down the road and explore the modest homes and cabins in the area. The Pisgah National Forest and DuPont Forest in the area offer more hiking than a person could possibly do in a lifetime. You will find hiking guide books and maps at the cabin that can help you decide which hikes are right for you. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 4 miles up the road from the cabin offering breath taking views, scenic drives, and (you guessed it!) plenty of hiking. GRATITUDE I'd like to say thank you for taking the time to consider booking my cabin. This truly is a special place that is precious to me; I miss living here every single day. My intent is to return and make Creekstone Cabin my permanent residence in 2020, maybe earlier if I'm very lucky. It has been a joy for me to share the cabin with like-minded people, looking for respite from life's demands. I am truly grateful to all my guests; you make it possible for me to hold on to this rustic gem. -John

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Best part of our stay
Very best part of our trip to Asheville! Initially, we were going to stay downtown for a long weekend and decided to change plans based on the reviews here. We are so glad we did! Lovely little cabin, clean, comfortable and very well appointed for visitors. Located close enough to easily get into Asheville or the mountains, but nestled in the woods to enjoy the quiet peace of nature. It is easy to see this home is well cared for and updated while still keeping its cost charm. Owner is responsive to questions and provides you with all the info you need for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend this wonderful retreat!

Mother’s Day Mountain Getaway
I can not say enough about this cabin. The area is absolutely beautiful and the cabin is very clean and comfortable. My son and I went on a short getaway trip. We hiked or explored daily but our most favorite place to be was the little Creekstone Cabin. The trail behind the cabin was a great workout leading up to the ridge with a tranquil little waterfall and flat spot for resting before descending back down to the cabin. The owner, John, was very helpful in every aspect. Super nice and accommodating. Thanks John for the best spot ever. We’ll be back!

Cabin and area lived up to expectations
We spent four enjoyable days in the Pisgah area and peaceful nights at this cozy cabin. As advertised, the cabin had everything we needed. Before "checking in," we stocked up on food items at the Food Lion grocery store in Candler, about 15 minutes from the cabin. That was all we needed to do. The babbling brook about 30 feet from the cabin can be heard from the downstairs bedroom, particularly with the window open. (We didn't use the upstairs room due to the low head room and the narrow spiral staircase.) It was peaceful and comfortable. Hiking in the Pisgah forest behind the cabin was fun. We also hiked along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Once you get to the Parkway (perhaps a 15-min drive on the winding Pisgah Hwy), you can go left (NE) or right (SW). One day we drove several miles NE on the Parkway, with great overlooks. Another day, we went SW and it was spectacular. We got off the Parkway to visit the lovely town of Sylva. Other quaint towns we visited were Hendersonville, Canton, and Waynesville. We had excellent lunches in Candler at the Sweet Southern Funk Food Truck, Lulu's on Main in Sylva, and Early Girl Eatery in West Asheville.

Cabin was as promised, and more!!
Everything John says in his description of Creekstone Cabin is not only true, but there is so much, much more that he doesn't say! For example, it is true the babbling creek can be heard from inside the cabin when the windows are open, but he doesn't say there is a nice little concrete bench down by the creek where you can sit and enjoy the peacefulness. It is also true that the kitchen is well equipped. But what he doesn't say is that, besides the normal pots, pans and dishes, there is just about any utensil you will need. You will find seasonings, spices, even coffee, including decaf!! There is a regular coffee pot, as well as a french press and a single-serve coffee maker, You will find cooking oils, olive oil, cling wrap, aluminum foil, parchment paper, the list goes on and on. The laundry comes equipped with laundry detergent, and detailed operation instructions taped to the front of the washer. The bathroom has a hair dryer and myriad bottles of shampoo. We are sure many of the supplies I've listed here, and more, have been left by previous guests, so there's not likely any guarantee that our experience will be yours, but we were very happy with how well-supplied the cabin is. Please pay particular attention to John's description and photos of the spiral staircase and upstairs loft. There was no way we could use the beautiful well-appointed loft space because of my husband's height. And the staircase is very narrow and steep, and immediately to the left outside the kitchen door, so be forewarned and mind your head. A careful review of John's photos will tell you everything you need to know about the "upstairs." But we knew that going in, and had already decided we would sleep in the full bed downstairs which worked out beautifully. Oh, and one other thing. The Weber grill on the deck worked marvelously, cooked our T-bones to perfection, with the lighted umbrella and torches providing the ambiance! Go! You won't be disappointed!

This is an amazing, peaceful, beautiful, place.
We had a wonderful time at Creekstone Cabin on our first visit to the Asheville area. It was spotless, comfortable and so peaceful. We had fun outings into the city to visit breweries, shops and restaurants and SO looked forward to the peace and quiet the cabin gave us in the evenings. The babbling creek and natural setting were just perfect. We can't wait to go back!

What a great place to stay when visiting the Asheville area! Cute little cabin tucked away in the mountains, but still close to everything. It was so peaceful, falling asleep to the sound of the stream out back, with quiet evenings sitting on the deck. Would definitely stay again!

Peaceful Cabin in the Mountains
Creekstone Cabin is amazing! It’s very cozy with lots of charm. You can hear the crick from the cabin and it’s very peaceful. The hiking trail in the back is fantastic too. Everything about this cabin is wonderful. I wish we stayed longer.

Wonderful gem!
What a great find! Cozy inside and a tranquil feeling of seclusion outside. The moss covered walkway to the stream is magical. Close enough to everything and the trail out the back up into the Forest is perfect. I do hope to stay again!

Tranquil and beautiful
We wanted to escape and the cabin was perfect to do just that. With hiking right out the back door, we were able to avoid large crowds at the more popular hiking places around. Well-stocked and comfortable with gorgeous scenery. We slept with the windows open and fell asleep to the sounds of the stream and bugs each night. Loved it.
