Owner description: Located on the edge of the University of North Carolina – Asheville the Botanical Gardens at Asheville were a real treat to visit. First, the Garden is located about 10 minutes from downtown Asheville which made it an easy site to visit. Second, the trail is well tended, beautiful and relaxing. If you ran it the trail is maybe 15 minutes long. If you stroll then it’s as long as you’d like. Lastly, and most important, you get to see some truly spectacular native plants in their natural habitat including a very rare Pink Lady’s-slipper orchid (Cypripedium acaule). As a matter of fact I saw FOUR with two still in bloom as well as several yellow and white lady’s slipper orchids that had finished blooming. To see them in their native habitat is rare enough. That some knucklehead had not come by and picked them is even more amazing. Some added treats include a large stone near the main stream that clearly shows the markings of its molten past and appears to be shaped like a dragon.

Take a relaxing stroll through these beautiful gardens full of native plants and trees. Always something blooming. A beautiful stream runs and meanders it's way around the many outdoors rooms of gardens. Be sure to note the many legendary trees found all around this wonderful place.

Unless it has changed, it does not have much to offer. I use to live near here. Was surprised at how little it has compared to other botanical gardens that I have been to. Definitely could use some improvements.

NICE LAYOUT AND CONVIENT LOCATION (Not far from I-26) The plants and surrounding area were absolutely beautiful. For those with limited time it's better than spending hours on the near-by Blue Ridge Parkway. HOWEVER..if you have the time, also visit the Parkway. The fee is $10 a vehicle for parking (just so 'ya know.)

The Botanical Gardens is well situated in Asheville and a quiet place for a nice stroll. It is nothing spectacular other than a quiet little spot that is well cared for with native plants and a well groomed path.

The botanical gardens are a beautiful place to take a nice stroll, have a picnic, or take pictures. There are some short trails and a nice creek running through that is very peaceful to sit by.
