My husband and I picked Curate on our trip to Asheville because we wanted a fine dining experience. Curate did not disappoint. We had the eggplant dish, which was delightful, as well as the tomato bread, manchego cheese, and shared a delicious pork together. We went at about 9:30pm on a Sunday night, expecting to be one of the few in the restaurant, but the restaurant was packed. We recommend making a reservation even on nights that may not seem like they should be busy. We enjoyed our meal very much. It is definitely more expensive than most places we eat, but makes a wonderful, special date night!

I like Tapas. I like true Spanish food. If you haven't visited Spain or Portugal, you simply aren't in a position to know what an absolute gem Curate is. Asheville is a great food and drink destination, but Curate alone is reason enough to visit the city. Seriously.

First, in case you are unsure, the name is pronounced Coo-ra-tay and basically means "cure yourself." The philosophy behind the name is that excellent food shared in excellent company is a healing experience, and the restaurant lives up to that ideal.

The meal I enjoyed here seriously rivals means I've had in larger, more famous cities including New York, LA, Vegas, San Francisco and Washington DC, and none of those cities has a Spanish restaurant that matches the food and wine served here. If you like authentic, excellently-prepared specialties such as jamon, morcilla, seafood (the squid!), and too many others to list. Ask your server for advice based on what you like, what experience you have with this cuisine and any dietary restrictions--the staff is knowledgeable and very, very good.

Don't overlook the sangrias--they are outstanding. The whole wine list is excellent, but the sherries are a rare treat. In cocktails, the alto refugio or the sangria cava will take you out of your comfort zone in a very good way.

Katie Button, the owner and chef, is a James Beard award-winner and that shows in every aspect of the restaurant. Too often, famous name or award-winning chefs are simply figureheads or are coasting on their laurels. That is definitely not the case here, and a passion for excellent cuisine underlies everything served here.

If you visit Asheville, you *have* to eat at Curate. If you haven't visited Asheville, plan a trip just to experience this restaurant. It is that good, and could hold its own in any city in the world.

We were unable to get reservations on a Friday night, which worked out because we ended up getting to town later than expected. My husband suggested we just show up and see if we could get in at the last minute. We were lucky to get a table for four without having to wait! We had never been before and the menu was a bit overwhelming for the first time. Our server, Avery, asked us if we would be will to try the Spanish experience. She described it as us giving her some ideas of likes and absolute dislikes and then let her start bringing out food. We went for it and she started bringing out plates. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was amazing! The meat and cheese plate, Patatas bravas, cod fritters, meatballs, piquillo peppers stuffed with goat cheese - all to die for. I could go on and on. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.
ENJOY!

I was excited to return to Curaté after a trip to Spain. It’s not possible to bring jamon into the US on an international flight, but they have the real deal at Cutaté. The jamon is very high quality, salty, full of flavor. The ensaladilla rusa was different with larger chunks of tuna, but this is a dish that is open to many interpretations. The morcilla (blood sausage) has a nutmeg taste to it that was different but we really enjoyed. So excited to have the foods we fell in love with in the States. Well done traditional Spanish tapas.

Absolutely blown away by every item we got. Perfect sized small plates to share. Our favorite was the pepito de tenera, which was an amazing beef sandwich with a blue cheese sauce. The chicken fritters were surprisingly rich and creamy. It was a shame to get so full we couldn’t order any more!
