“Great Location if Visiting Biltmore”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 December 2013

The location was excellent as it was close to Biltmore and the shopping area around Biltmore. The room was clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was courteous. If visiting the area again, we would stay here again.

We stayed in this hotel the night of November 21st. It is conveniently close to Biltmore Village and the main entrance to the Biltmore Estate. We were there celebrating our anniversary and attending the Candle Light Tour of the Biltmore Estate. In addition to being very convenient the hotel was very comfortable. The bed was fantastic. We would again stay here when visiting Asheville.

Booked 5 nights using points but even for free not worth it. Moving to the Grove Park. No decent furniture or bed in the place. My body aches from sleeping on a foam mattress and sitting in very cheap foam furniture that does not provide proper support. Heating system loud and cannot get temperature right. Clean and good staff. Lovely pool. Good location for the Biltmore. I am totally turned off to Marriotts lower level brands from this stay.

We were in Asheville for 4 days and actually preferred the room layout here - large studio w/o a wall dividing sleeping area from the living/dining area - made it feel more open and roomier. The couch was awesome - easy for two to lounge at the same time & read or watch TV. Large work area if you needed to do real work. Breakfast was standard fare, but met all our needs. They had "dinner" on Mon-Wed but it was not very healthy-eating friendly. We did enjoy the mixed nuts & decadent brownies though - thanks! Lounge area had a nice sitting area with TV, magazines and fireplace. We did use the hot tub and pool once and were the only folks in there - nice after a long day of sightseeing. Staff was helpful, especially the engineer (can't remember his name). On the not so positive side - located in an odd commercial area on a busy street, though easy to drive uptown or to Biltmore Village and Estate. Could even walk to Biltmore Village in the nicer and lighter weather. Also, there is only one computer in their "business center" which is right in the middle of the lounge. It continually froze up and took forever to open web pages. I know most folks travel with laptops, but we don't when on vacation. And the heating system was quite noisy when running. In spite of these issues it was a very positive & relaxing visit to NC.

Room Tip: We had a corner room on the 3rd floor - 301. Good spot although HVAC is a bit noisy.

This hotel is slightly different from other Residence Inns we've stayed at.

It's a great nights sleep at a great price, but the guy who runs the Breakfast, I swear he must have been in charge of a ships galley - it was so clean, organised and prompt, a total joy when staggering around with a hangover as we/I was.

There rear car park entrance is up steep stairs, so do make good use of the front entrance.

We have never been to Asheville, NC, despite having moved fro NY to Charlotte 4 & 1/2 years ago, so there we went! My hubby travels frequently for work, so he always has a lot of Marriott Rewards points as a Platinum Elite member. Therefore, this little get-away was gratis, courtesy of work. We had a nice suite, although smaller than other Residence Inns we have stayed in. The room was on the backside of the building, mostly trees, so no real view, but not an issue. Bed was firm, & pillows were pretty comfortable, but the couch certainly needs updating, as it was saggy. I even switched cushions around to see it it helped. Not a lot. There was 1 TV, which was between the sitting area & bed area (all in the same room, in other words). The TV swiveled, so you could watch from either side; we often sat propped up on the bed, as it was more comfy than the couch. Other RI's we stay at usually have a separate bedroom with its own TV, as well as a sitting room with a TV. Anyway, the small fridge & microwave was handy, but some plates & utensils would be nice. Hot breakfast was great everyday, the attendants kept tables clean, refilled foods as needed, & were very pleasant. I enjoyed working out each day as well, & was happy to see free weights in the workout room as well as the usual treadmills, elliptical, & bike. We also enjoyed the hot tub, in the pool rates, lots of nice towels, lounge chairs, a great place to relax after a busy day. Only complaint: hallway in the 2nd floor was always FREEZING, despite complaining to front desk.

We spent two nights in what appeared to be a recently upgraded studio room with a very comfortable tempur-pedic mattress. From the minute we checked in staff was helpful--especially the gentleman who was setting up for dinner who even came over to help with our luggage cart and told us about the evening's menu as he showed us to our room. We often stay in Residence Inns, so were familiar with their good breakfast options, but are not usually there during the week when there is a supper option as well. Our first night we did have soup and salad at the Inn, and it was quite good. The second night we ate in town, but did come back in time to get some chips and pretzels to take back to the room from their barbecue dinner. The dining area is very comfortable, with a variety of seating options, and the two staff kept food well stocked, the tables clean, and were helpful with folks taking food back to their rooms. We did not use the indoor pool, but it looked nice. I did use the laundry which was clean. We did not have problems with the parking lot, but I don't think the hotel was particularly crowded the nights we were there. We had not problems with the elevator while there other than a longer than average wait time. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful with any requests we made.
