“Even my nonsmoking room smelled of cigarette smoke.”
Reviewed 16 July 2010

I found it surprising that the hotel asked us to write a review. My room wasn't very clean, and when the air conditioner fan blew, the room smelled of smoke.

We stopped in Asheville for the night on the way to Indiana. We chose this hotel because it was pretty close to the highway, but not right on it. The clerk at the front desk was friendly, but didn't seem to be familiar with the area. She couldn't tell us of any nearby restaurants within walking distance. There were actually quite a few within a mile distance of the hotel. The actual "Biltmore" Village was a mile away. Our room was clean, but the furnishings were pretty dated. They were serving a casual dinner of hamburgers, hotdogs, etc. in the breakfast area when we arrived and we were invited to help ourselves. We opted to eat out, but these receptions are available to those that want to eat in. Complimentary toiletries were limited to a small bottle of shampoo, conditioner and bar soap. We had made our reservation for a separated one bedroom suite as we were traveling with our teenage daughter. She slept on the sofa bed in the living room area and all her bedding was available to make up the bed. We had requested a room away from the elevators and also requested extra feather pillows and both requests were fulfilled. The air conditioner really worked well, and in fact, practically blew us out of the room. There was nothing wrong with the room, and everything seemed to work fine. This Residence Inn had an indoor pool, but we didn't use it. The public areas in the hotel were fairly small and dated, but appeared clean. Our check out clerk was friendly and check out was uneventful.

Stayed her with 17 and 18 year old grandchildren. The two room layout gave us privacy and space. Room was very clean and well furnished with a kitchenette. Happy hour was great for snacking after a day of white water rafting. The breakfast was great. Had basketball court, pool and hot tub which entertained the younger set. Close to downtown area.

This Marriott is not as good. I have physical limitations and chose Marriott to insure comfort. The toilet seat lid came off while I was sitting on it causing me to hurt an already damaged knee. Unfortunately, there was no one to fix it in the morning. When I tried to go downstairs to the lobby the elevator was broken. This was one of the primary reasons for selecting this hotel because I could not negotiate steps. The hotel has some quality issues and for the price paid per night I would expect to have prompt repair service.

Internet went out for two of the four days I was there. This is a really big deal for me as I work in my room after hours. Location was perfect for the BIltmore and to downtown.

Second time we have stayed at this hotel. The staff is excellent. Friendly, smiling, happy to help. Bed was a dream to sleep on, room was clean, breakfast was an unheard of selection, and quality for a hotel. Totally amazed.

Stayed 5 nights. A little expensive for just two, but comes with hot breakfast buffet, which helps. Location is great for Biltmore and close to major roads in and out of town. Very clean with good service. Not hard to find major attractions from here including Grove Park and downtown. Entrance in and out of hotel can be a bit difficult during rush hours. Close to a major hospital, but not noisy in our room. Easy to get on the Blueridge if you want to see some great mountain scenery.
