Renaissance Asheville Hotel

This is obviously an older hotel but has been refurbished very nicely. Very attractive lobby.
Frond Desk personnel were very friendly and accommodating. One refreshing detail is that on-site parking is free!
There are other newer, more exciting hotels around, but for the price and its location I thought the Renaissance was a good choice.

Room Tip: Odd numbered rooms face towards the mountains and have nicer views.

My wife and I and another couple booked this hotel last minute on a road trip to North Carolina and saw that it was listed as a category 6 hotel on Marriott's website. Standard room was $197 and we figured for that kind of money it should be great. While the location was optimal, located only minutes walking from downtown Asheville, the hotel itself was lacking. The indoor pool, hottub and gym were nice --- but nothing stood out as spectacular. The room was also mediocre, noting that I wouldn't have any qualms about it except that the price did not match the value offered. All in all, the standard room at this hotel should have been $80, not $197. Don't want to leave out the staff. Front desk were polite, quick and friendly. No issues there.

Room Tip: Standard room is small.

A great location as everything Downtown Asheville is walkable. Professional staff with nice and clean rooms. The property looks a little old but is well maintained. A little pricey but it was ok thanks to the downtown convenience.

Perfect location if you want to be downtown - everything is walkable. The staff at check-in were very friendly and offered great local suggestions. The room was a typical Renaissance hotel - nicer than your average hotel, but not fancy. Only drawback is the concierge lounge hours are bad. Most Renaissance hotels have the lounge open during the day for snacks/drinks. For breakfast, they closed (in my opinion) really early at 9am. Fine for business travelers, however a majority of the travelers here are not.

The hotel is well placed but starting to look a little old. The staff are friendly and efficient and the place is clean. The reason I have marked this down is the air conditioning units are located in the bedroom and although worked well I found mine very noisy and had a very poor nights sleep. I live somewhere that does not need air conditioning and is very quiet at night but the noise and cutting in and out caused me to just turn it off.

Although the hotel is not bad, getting a good nights sleep is my top priority hence the low rating

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I appreciate the positive remarks about the staff. However, I apologize that the air conditioning units kept you from a restful night's sleep. Otherwise, we hope you enjoyed your visit and look forward to serving you in the near future.

We have been using this hotel for four years when we have picked up/dropped off our college student. The location is great and the hotel is pleasant. The staff are super nice. You do pay for the convenience of being in town, but how great is it not to have to get in the car to find dinner or a drink.

Morning departure are a bit of bottleneck as the elevators seem to be both slow and busy. We have never eaten in the hotel so can't comment.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor and a view of the mountains

Attended a conference in Asheville which was held at the Renaissance Hotel. Accommodations were excellent . Hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants and other local attractions which as the Thomas Wolfe museum. Staff at the hotel was very friendly and accommodating. Beds were very comfortable and was not disturbed by noise from other quests.
