Stayed here for several nights. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Handicap-accessible room and bathroom were very accommodating. Front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Great buffet breakfast in the restaurant. Walking distance to many of the local restaurants and shopping. The hotel even had a map of the area showing the various attractions, restaurants and shops which we were able to take with us.

Spent one night here on business travel. For years, I've heard good things about the Renaissance, but never had a chance to try it out. It is a very nice, with all of the amenities you would expect of a large hotel chain. The room wasn't large but was fine for one night. The furnishings and bathroom fixtures all looked new and well-maintained. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and very courteous. The location is extremely convenient to all the restaurants and shops in downtown Asheville.

We just stayed at the Renaissance on 1st weekend in June. It's walking distance from most of the fun things in downtown Asheville. The front desk staff who doubled as concierge had great recommendations for us in terms of local restaurants. Breakfast buffet was nice. $5 for kid's buffet was a real deal. I'd highly recommend it.

Excellent location & very good otherwise. Showing a little wear & tear due to age but not enough to be a problem. Cleanliness is good, not a problem.
Excellent location for downtown, ease in walking or driving to area venues.
Service from staff was tops!
Seems to be a very often selected stay for tourists, business people & groups, &airline crews. Excellent little bar, great seating on the covered patio.
Will definitely choose again when in the area.

Just wrapped a weekend stay in Asheville ands stayed at the Renaissance. Recently renovated - lobby/bar area is very nice, rooms are standard, very nice hotel rooms. If you are looking to be close to all the main streets in downtown Asheville - and love to walk to shop, dinner, drinks and walk back - this is the perfect place. Is literally 2 blocks from the main streets of Asheville. Hotel is great for couples or families. Park in the back for free. Would come back again for sure!

You know you're not in Kansas anymore when the two "downtown" hotels are a renaissance and a W (the Aloft.) Midcentury, so not as lavish as newer places, and yes the bathrooms are very small and cramped. But very good price on a thursday night and we've paid more for Fairfield s without even getting free parking (in Bremerton washington of all places.) Staff are always warm and friendly, the king room was large and comfy and while the concierge lounge was small and crowded at breakfast, at least the other guests were polite as we tried to stay out of each others way at the juice and coffee stations. Hint: stock enough club soda in the lounge that its not all "reserved" for mixed drinks. another hint: get some of those nifty "4th generation" fairfield lamps to add additional electrical outlets to the rooms. Great quiet location, friendly welcoming staff, reliable Marriott quality.

Check-in went smooth, but the lady told us nothing about property and wasn't into conversing. Room was clean and housekeeping staff nice (although we always saw them gathered gossiping by elevator). Room service over priced, but surprisingly good. Bar closed to early Friday night, but great atmosphere and loved outdoor sitting area! Breakfast buffet good and service was alright (omelet maker man was so funny and really left you in a good mood). Location was great--- close enough to walk downtown. I'd stay again if I'm back in Asheville.
