We stayed for one night during November '08. The staff was most accomodating, the free breakfast snack adequate and the coffee was good.

I have never stayed at a cleaner hotel and it has a great location.

Excellent location for Asheville. Easy access to I40, Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore Estate, Biltmore Village, downtown, etc. When reservations were booked, the hotel said that their renovations would be done by November however they only had finished the first floor rooms when we checked in so we asked for a room on the first floor. The next floor to be finished is 5th floor. Ask for a room on the backside of the hotel so that you do not face the road. Our room faced the back of the hotel and there was no road noise. The walls were thin and you could hear other people in the adjoining rooms though.

Check-In Experiences: The front desk staff was very friendly. They asked if we were visiting Biltmore, and offered tickets if we didn't have them already. Ticket prices seemed a little higher than they would be at the gate, but we had them already. There are signs in the parking lot about towing, but we left our room key envelope in the front window and didn't have any problems. The lot was mostly full when we came back that night, so I could foresee problems having enough spaces if the hotel was completely booked.

Room and Hotel Amenities Experiences: The double-bed rooms were very nice and certainly adequate for a Wyndham Group hotel. There was a little paint chipping near the baseboards in the bathrooms, but that definitely wasn't a big deal. The curtains were over the air conditioning, and in one of the rooms they weren't held back, so they blew out over the bed. We remedied this by putting shoes on the windowsill, on top of the excess curtain. The complimentary breakfast was adequate, including breads, four cereals, a wafflemaker, sausage and egg biscuits, juice, and coffee. Newspapers were available for free in the front lobby. The small indoor pool and exercise rooms seemed clean, but we didn't use them.

Other Miscellaneous Information: This hotel is one of the more convenient to Biltmore Estate, with the entrance probably 1/4 of a mile away. It is about the same distance from I-40, and is about three miles from downtown Asheville. They gave us rooms next to the stairwells and the elevators both nights (all different rooms) but there weren't any noise problems. Most of the guests were 50+, other than a few younger people who appeared to be in town for the Brewgrass beer festival. The single, smallish elevator here may be the slowest I have ever seen, servicing only five floors.

  • Liked — Location, cleanliness, friendly staff
  • Disliked — Slow elevator, parking may be inadequate

We stayed at the Baymont last weekend, however, for the price, we were very disappointed. The renovations are understandably on hold due to problems with furniture, etc. coming from earthquake stricken China. However, aside from the obvious need for renovations, the staff was not extremely friendly, the rooms are small and the bathroom and vanity area and closet space was extremely small. The breakfast was fine except for being unkept. Not a good deal for the money. Convenience to Biltmore was great, but other than that, not the greatest place to stay for the money we paid.

My wife and I stayed May 3rd-5th. This hotel has a GREAT LOCATION to the Biltmore, but needed to be redone probably more than a year ago. The hotel is in the process of having a complete redo with all new furniture, wallpaper. carpets and tv. This is not going to be completed until sometime in July 2008.
The room is a little worn, the beds lean to one side, pillows are of thin foam and one of bedspreads had a 2 inch hole cutout of it. The room was quiet. The bathroom has just been retiled and looks good.
The complimentary breakfast was fair, but needed more care. The sausage and eggs were barely warm under the covered warming trays and the coffee ran dry with no staff around..
The elevator has some type of programming problem and has a mind of its own. I almost got stuck in it the elevator the first night ( they are working on the problem)..
The staff as reported, was excellent and helpful. They were great guides and made the visit worthwhile.
The rate and location made this hotel a good choice, the redo could make it a first choice.

I stayed at the Baymont in Asheville to attend a wedding. I was very much looking forward to my trip as I have heard that Asheville is absolutely beautiful. However, the service at the Baymont was horrible and really put a damper on the weekend. The room was pretty clean for the price and the location was great. However, the man checking us in to the hotel could not be more rude. It because so bad that no one wanted to approach the front desk out of frustration and not wanting to get into a conflict. There is absolutely no reason for rudeness - especially for a hotel that claims to be in the service business. Refusing to give out more than key, refusing to give any directions, refusing to give out the packets that the bride had left us at the front desk, and simply trying to be as difficult as he could really made my stay unpleasant. I will continue to recommend other hotels in the area to friends and will in no way recommend this hotel.

I have only stayed at four different hotels in North Carolina so far, but I think this one is a good one for the price. The hotel was very clean and everything smelled fresh. There is a gym with a decent selection of equipment, a large pool and hot tub. They also offer a free breakfast with a good assortment of food. We asked for two non-smoking king adjoining rooms with mini fridge and microwave. We got exactly what we asked for without problems. The staff was friendly and were able to answer any of our questions. The hotel was easy to get in and out of, and is technically within walking distance of Biltmore but I would advise against trying to walk there. There are many restaurants within walking distance. What I appreciate most is that it was quiet, and the room was dark at night. Even the bathroom seemed to be well insulated, even though it was very tiny. I did not rate this as excellent because the pool was over-chlorinated, the breakfast food could have been cooked better, our card keys didn't work at first, and I think (for the price of the room) they can do better than offering a tiny bottle of Breck shampoo and a bar of Pure and Natural soap. I would expect to see better brand name soaps and some lotion offered in other hotels of the same price. I realize that sounds a bit nit-picky, but it is something I pay attention to.

  • Liked — It was very clean compared to other hotels I have been to.
  • Disliked — The entrance to the parking lot is very steep. Our rental van kept scraping the bottom.
