This chain is one that I trust and have always had good luck. This hotel is in the process of remodeling and we got an updated room with down bedding and updated bathroom. The remodel was well done unlike some hotels in which we have stayed. The only drawback is the tiny outdoor pool and no spa. This is a great hotel for a short stay on a budget.

PROS: a couple of college-aged girls at the front desk were nice when we asked questions; there is a computer in the lobby for guest use (though beware rude guests who stand directly over your shoulder - seriously - where are these people from?); the rooms were fairly large (we had a King); the beds were comfy; the bathrooms were recently remodeled and clean; there is a fridge and microwave in the room

CONS: the parking lot is small and difficult to park in (especially when fellow guests decide to park on or over the lines for no apparent reason); the swimming pool is very very tiny; the breakfast room was too small for the number of guests - but it doesn't matter too much because there really wasn't much good to say about the breakfast offered; the apparent front desk manager was a bit unfriendly and would not work with us to get a different room when we did not want the one offered; the floors are CREAKY - stay on the top floor if possible; there is a DAMP feel to the hotel - which may be due to really old and noisy AC units that blast freezing cold air without a way to control it (it's either on or its off) - we set it at the "warmest" cold temperature and when the thermostat would trip (rarely) it would still shoot out air, so there was no end to the noise all night long; the bedspreads are scary - we put ours in the corner; the carpet is also a bit suspect; the location is not so great for seeing downtown Asheville - it is probably a 10-15 minute drive by the time you find parking and whatnot, so if you're there to really spend time in downtown Asheville, I suggest finding a hotel actually downtown.

I just have to believe this property will become better. Our stay will met with a totally rude person at the front desk that insisted that she complete her personal call on the telephone before attending to customers. I know it was only three or four minutes, however listening to a personal call for that long seems an eternity. I even had time to return to my vechile and inform my wife the check in was taking longer than expected. The front desk was in complete disaray. Later when I returned to the lobby I found the same desk clerk talking with another desk clerk while both sat on a counter behing the check in desk. What an unprofessonal site!!!! The lobby contained "junk" TVs, computer equipment, tables, and construction materials. It appeared the hotel was making some renovations. The dining room had carpet and carpet pad stacked in one corner. We never saw a worker the two days we were there. Our room (#215) had a new bath. The remainder of the room was in desperate need of renovation. The picture above the bed had been removed and there were three picture hooks in the wall. I reported this to the front desk and the same clerk said it "was no big deal" and that renovations were taking place. The sheets on the bed were thin and ripped in several places. We removed the sheets after the first night and left on the floor in hopes new sheets would be installed. The drapes on the window contained many tears thus letting light in the room from the rips. At breakfast there was some type of "round egg" that appeared to have come from a box of frozen "eggs" which had been heated in a toaster. They were heating bisquits and eggs in a toaster in the dining area. The "egg" was uneatable. They did have fresh apples in the lobby so I ate a couple of apples and let that be my breakfast. Remeber I wrote this place just has to get better, as it could not get worse. And perhaps it's just this traveler. Mayby I expect too much when you pay the price this hotel charges. There are several other hotels in the immediate area, thus being close to a specific attraction is not sufficient reason to stay here. Perhaps your stay will be better.

We stayed at this hotel for a couple of days in May while visiting the BIltmore house and other attractions in the area. We found the staff friendly, the room clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel, it is only 15-20 minutes to the Biltmore house. There is a place just down the road from the hotel called Stone Ridge Tavern and we found the food there very good and would recommend it.

We had a large group for a Basketball Tournament. Approx. 28 families from our group was there. They are in the process of remodeling, but did not get in our way. It was very clean hotel, pool small but nice. We were not expecting anything big so just fine for us. Breakfast area was great, good breakfast and kept all food stocked until right at closing time. I do apologize for any other guest staying at that time. We were all in and out during different times of the day and had kids ranging from 9-15. They can be loud at times. The hotel staff was very friendly to all of them. I would stay there again if ever in the area. There is a small mall across the road, Kmart near buy and a lot of eating places on that road. You cant go wrong to pick this location!
