“Wonderful stay!”
Reviewed 1 March 2010

We stayed at this hotel on a trip to Myrtle Beach. Great location - about 5 miles to the Biltomore Estate. Rooms have been renovated so seemed very new. Small exercise room. Great breakfast. Cozy atmosphere. Reception staff were very helpful. Great value.

We absolutely loved this hotel! For the price and by the name, we were expecting a bland decor. Surprise! This hotel was VERY clean and modern. I have worked in several hotels, therefore I am quite particular about rooms. Our room surpassed my expectations. We studied for exams while on our weekend-away. Thankfully, the hotel, while at full capacity, was quiet. During a study break at 1am, we walked downstairs to get the free fresh-baked cookies and hot apple cider. The "country" feel came from the warmth and professionalism of the staff. They welcomed us like we were family. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. We are definitely returning for another getaway!

First of all, sorry about the late late review. Second, Asheville is just a great great place and I highly recommend it. This is a very very good hotel. It has great charm and feels cozy. The lobby has cookies and fruit and a computer you can use very nice. The breakfast is more than adequate and actually tasty. All service was very good. Our group had 3 rooms, two suites and 2 double bed room. The suite I was in, 206 I think, was better I thought with floor plan. All rooms were oversized and clean. Clean public areas and the gym and pool looked nice, just didn't use them. Would highly recommend.

We stopped at this Country Inn & Suites on our way to Myrtle Beach. Everything went very smoothly with check in and check out. The hotel was recently remodeled and the room we stayed in was perfect. It was a two room suite. One room was a living space with a sleeper sofa and a bathroom. The other room had two queen beds and a bathroom. This was the absolute perfect set up for traveling with the kids. Well worth the extra money!

This chain is one that I trust and have always had good luck. This hotel is in the process of remodeling and we got an updated room with down bedding and updated bathroom. The remodel was well done unlike some hotels in which we have stayed. The only drawback is the tiny outdoor pool and no spa. This is a great hotel for a short stay on a budget.

PROS: a couple of college-aged girls at the front desk were nice when we asked questions; there is a computer in the lobby for guest use (though beware rude guests who stand directly over your shoulder - seriously - where are these people from?); the rooms were fairly large (we had a King); the beds were comfy; the bathrooms were recently remodeled and clean; there is a fridge and microwave in the room

CONS: the parking lot is small and difficult to park in (especially when fellow guests decide to park on or over the lines for no apparent reason); the swimming pool is very very tiny; the breakfast room was too small for the number of guests - but it doesn't matter too much because there really wasn't much good to say about the breakfast offered; the apparent front desk manager was a bit unfriendly and would not work with us to get a different room when we did not want the one offered; the floors are CREAKY - stay on the top floor if possible; there is a DAMP feel to the hotel - which may be due to really old and noisy AC units that blast freezing cold air without a way to control it (it's either on or its off) - we set it at the "warmest" cold temperature and when the thermostat would trip (rarely) it would still shoot out air, so there was no end to the noise all night long; the bedspreads are scary - we put ours in the corner; the carpet is also a bit suspect; the location is not so great for seeing downtown Asheville - it is probably a 10-15 minute drive by the time you find parking and whatnot, so if you're there to really spend time in downtown Asheville, I suggest finding a hotel actually downtown.

  • Liked — The bathrooms were very clean and updated.
  • Disliked — The creaky floors and musty smell.

I just have to believe this property will become better. Our stay will met with a totally rude person at the front desk that insisted that she complete her personal call on the telephone before attending to customers. I know it was only three or four minutes, however listening to a personal call for that long seems an eternity. I even had time to return to my vechile and inform my wife the check in was taking longer than expected. The front desk was in complete disaray. Later when I returned to the lobby I found the same desk clerk talking with another desk clerk while both sat on a counter behing the check in desk. What an unprofessonal site!!!! The lobby contained "junk" TVs, computer equipment, tables, and construction materials. It appeared the hotel was making some renovations. The dining room had carpet and carpet pad stacked in one corner. We never saw a worker the two days we were there. Our room (#215) had a new bath. The remainder of the room was in desperate need of renovation. The picture above the bed had been removed and there were three picture hooks in the wall. I reported this to the front desk and the same clerk said it "was no big deal" and that renovations were taking place. The sheets on the bed were thin and ripped in several places. We removed the sheets after the first night and left on the floor in hopes new sheets would be installed. The drapes on the window contained many tears thus letting light in the room from the rips. At breakfast there was some type of "round egg" that appeared to have come from a box of frozen "eggs" which had been heated in a toaster. They were heating bisquits and eggs in a toaster in the dining area. The "egg" was uneatable. They did have fresh apples in the lobby so I ate a couple of apples and let that be my breakfast. Remeber I wrote this place just has to get better, as it could not get worse. And perhaps it's just this traveler. Mayby I expect too much when you pay the price this hotel charges. There are several other hotels in the immediate area, thus being close to a specific attraction is not sufficient reason to stay here. Perhaps your stay will be better.

  • Liked — Fesh apples in lobby
  • Disliked — Cleanliness
