Owner description: McCormick Field opened its gates for the first time in 1924 when the Asheville Tourists played host to the Detroit Tigers. Over the years the stadium has encountered numerous renovations, most recently a seating bowl makeover in 2015, that has ensured the stadium remains up with the times while keeping its lustrous history and throwback feel. With a capacity of just over 4,000, the dynamic during a game is intimate and scenic. It is a hitter friendly Minor League ballpark thanks to a short porch in right field and a 42-foot high wall in right-center. McCormick Field is still inhabited by the Asheville Tourists, the Single A Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

I've seen over 70 minor league stadiums, this ranks around the middle. Not a terrible place to see a game but nothing particularly special. Get a photo by the old ticket booth

McCormick Field is one of the regular places we go to in Asheville, NC during the summer. It's the home of the Asheville Tourists, a farm team of the Colorado Rockies baseball team. The great thing about the Tourists and McCormick Field is you don't need a bank loan to attend a game like you do to see a major league game. Parking is free or if you want to park close, a mere five dollars. The price of admission for two and food for the evening, a very reasonable, $30.00 for two. It's a great throwback to the way pro baseball used to be, cheap, fun, close to the diamond, and good entertainment.

We had gone here with our 2 sons, some one had giving us free tickets. While there we had won a stuffed animal and it was causing problems so my childern took it out to the car, one was in 3rd grade the other in 7th grade. while out site a ball was hit over the to top of the stand an into the parking lot where my children where. They pick it up and came to come back in. the stadim staff would not allow they to reenter because they had picked up the ball. I wnet looking for my childern to find them wait out side the gate. never went back

You don't have to be a dedicated baseball fan to enjoy an evening out with the Asheville Tourists. The seats are just as hard, even numbing, as most minor league ball parks. But the excitement of cheering the home team, enjoying a hot dog and popcorn, feeling connected to the community and a part of history, is all just as thrilling as ever.
