We read about this place on urbanspoon and decided to stop for a late lunch while on a road trip. We chose the restaurant based on the great reviews-- and the menu. It has only a few items, which usually means that those few items are done well from our other experiences.
A few turns off the beaten path and into the combination antique store, grocery store and cafe, we discovered a wonderful gem. The people who own the place LOVE what they do and it shows. They talk about their sandwiches like they know them personally-- and create them from the ground up with lots of care.
We had the chicken salad, which was unusual AND delicious as well as the veggie panini-- YUM!!!! Interesting combo! We also tried a couple of iced mochas-- peppermint and orange... and some iced tea served in big mugs with ice.
We were lucky to get to try the bagels that they make there-- again... better than YUM!
We laughed with them about how we got the mileage award for that day-- we drove from Saint Louis, MO and they were our only stop in Asheville.
We challenge road-trippers from everywhere to take the JT mileage challenge as you visit this place on your next time through Asheville-- can you beat our 605 mile trek just for lunch? You will be glad you did!
