“Another fine brewpub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 November 2013

I enjoy visiting brewpubs when I travel and this place gets my recommendation. My wife and I had lunch there while traveling in the Asheville area and the food was very good. We both had their soup of the day and a salad and were happy. They also have a lunch pizza buffet and unfortunately, we got there to late as it was just shutting down.
I tried their Electric IPA and it was a very good choice and was a recommendation of the waitress. Service was a little slow but it gave us time to enjoy the atmosphere of the place and the beer so that was not a problem.
They also have a large patio seating area but the day we were there, it was cold, so no one was eating outside.

“Love the atmosphere here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2013

It never fails to be fun - whether you're playing games, just drinking beer & eating food, or people watching. The food is good, maybe not gourmet but who needs fancy? The beer infusions are such a great idea, and make their good beer even better.

“Pizza and Beer - hard to go wrong!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2013

We have visited Asheville Pizza and Brewery about 4 or 5 times now and each time, the pizza has been good and the beer a great compliment to the food. It is somewhat difficult at first to figure out which one you are looking for via the internet. The one on Coxe (which I'm reviewing) has a nice covered patio with many picnic tables, patio furniture, dart boards and cornhole. The one on Merrimon has a movie theater but I am not sure if their food offerings differ and I don't know about their dining options. For someone that doesn't know the area, it's difficult to determine which one you want to visit.
You can get pizza by the slice (build your own slice), and are pretty large with lots of options to load up on. My husband enjoys that they use true italian sausage and not the crumbles. They also have several specialty pizzas to offer with funny names or you build your own. Gluten free and other crust options are available, too. The movie posters and overall "ninja" nostalgia offer up a great atmosphere. It is not gourmet pizza but they offer much more to choose from than other pizza joints. My friend got an entree size greek salad which looked amazing and huge. We ordered a stromboli before and it was better than the pizza that visit.
About half of the time, however, the service has left us with somewhat of a questionable experience. Sometimes the staff are super cordial, come to the tables enough to refill glasses, allow you to try the beer before ordering, etc., but this last time, we had someone that just came as she wanted and would talk to us as she was walking away. Again, it's hit or miss. They make 5-6 beers there but I have only tried their Shiva IPA (less hop than most IPA's) and RocketGirl, a lighter ale that goes well with pizza. It gets pretty packed Friday and Saturday nights and not sure what it's like on a weekday as we've never visited then.

“A Fun Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2013

We stopped in for a beer and came away thoroughly impressed. The service was outstanding and very knowledgeable of all the beers that they offered. Had a couple apetizers and we were never rushed. The place has a small theater in it and they show 2nd run movies. A fun place to visit!

“Get the jalepeno poppers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2013

This place was great. They had awesome pizzas and great craft beer that was really reasonably priced. They also had truly amazing jalepeno poppers, which were not too spicy but were still really delicious, and paired nicely with jam. The service was super friendly and it was also dog-friendly and child-friendly, and there were a lot of jumbo sized games for the young and the young at heart, such as connect 4 and jenga. I would definitely recommend it.
