The guys from Table did a great job on this spot. Small and intimate, with great style and a cool vibe. Cocktails are the name of the game here. Love the breakdown on the menu. You can also request "Bartenders Choice" and tell them what kind of liquor you want and they will create something delicious. 4 of us each tried 2 different drinks and all 8 of them were wonderful.
I wish we had not eaten because the nibbles on the menu looked AMAZING and my chef friend raves about the lamb tartare. Next time I will come with an empty tummy.
Bathrooms are exquisite - very classy. Waiter is totally awesome, helpful, efficient and super cute.
This is a terrific date spot (as evidenced by at least 4 couples there on a date - cute).
Sadly, they lost on star due to of all things - smell. The spot is right above an open restaurant kitchen, and the weird restaurant smells waft up strongly to Imperial Life. And they aren't good smells either. Less the scent of dishes being cooked as that weird odor that comes out of commercial kitchens at the end of service. Sort of a raw meat/trash/burnt oil scent. NOT PLEASANT. And strong. I found it overpowering and super distracting.
Other than that, this is a real gem to have in Asheville. Made us feel quite cosmopolitan in our small town!
