“Enjoyable Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2013

We were in the Poplar Cottage for a week and loved every moment of it. Special care was made to make us feel very special including a lovely welcome basket of kitchen goodies, fluffy robes, an electric fireplace, soothing hot tub. I should also mention heated towel rack, piped in music in bedroom, updated appliances, and a lovely setting. We had privacy, yet the cabin is only 10 minutes from most attractions. I definitely look forward to a return trip soon.

We were in the Popular/Chestnut cottage, each unit with 1 bedroom. When I think of a cabin in the woods, I don't think of stainless steel appliances, a washer and dryer, a private back deck with a hot tub, a bed with speakers in the headboard, soft towels and bathrobes, and a kitchen complete with every appliance and utensil one could ever use, but that's what you get at the Asheville Cottages. The refrigerator was stocked with water, soda, cream, ketchup, mustard, etc. On the counter were granola bars, pita chips, muffins, and other tasty snacks. The cottages are located just outside of Asheville, but minutes from downtown. The loudest noise we heard while there was crickets. This was my type of "roughing it." Oh yeah!

We stayed at The Chestnut for 3 nights. Walking into the 'cottage', it reminded me a 'model house', except this is only one bedroom house. It is new, tastefully done, very clean. They have thought about everything.. heated floor in bathroom, towel warmer and very quiet bathroom exhaust fan. Not cheap. Appreciate the owner's consideration for guests for more expensive alternative. I was afraid of not having coffee and milk in the morning, but they have provided enough of those we normally get in a hotel to get by. Coffee maker was 'Mr. Coffee', but, it was not one of those cheap one and made 'good' coffee. Kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans and gadgets.
Each building has two units(cottages), but deck was arranged away from each other and there are trees between buildings, it is very private. We did not hear anybody.
Obviously, they provided enough bandwidth for WIFI, we did not have any issues with internet connections.
Since they are tacked away to create quiet setting, it would probably take 5 - 10 minutes on foot to get to a main road. You need a car or a bike.
We loved this place. I highly recommend it if you want to spend sometimes in Asheville or drive around Blue Ridge Parkway.

We stayed in The Aspen for 3 nights whilst enjoying the loveliness of western NC. First off, it is impeccably clean. I mean, absolutely spotless. Even under the bed! Amazing. No grime, no dust, no nothing!

The kitchen was spotless (get the theme) and well-stocked. Honestly, they thought of everything. Even chip clips! Greatly appreciated. Nice to be able to cook something for ourselves, or to go out for food (see my restaurant reviews for more info). If you like California Style Mexican, I must highly recommend Papas and Beer about 1 mile away from the cottage.

There is a washer/dryer in the cottage, which was great for getting hiking clothes clean after a particularly strenuous day.

Super quiet location. There were obviously other people staying in the other cottages but we never heard them. Beautiful landscaping as well. You can tell the owners take pride in their property.

The location is close (2 miles) to the Blue Ridge Parkway or to Asheville itself. We were there to hike and found amazing hikes along the BRP and further south near Brevard. No shortage of beauty here.

We were truly sad to leave and hope to return sometime soon. This place is a real gem.

We stayed at The Magnolia on 30 Aug 13 it was the grand opening and we was lucky enough to be the first guest. We arrived a little early and met Tracie who was there tying up some last minute details and believe me, she did not miss a thing. Everything was absolutely amazing. They thought of everything...... Tracie even came back to tell us about the "hover flies" which did look a little scary but she did her research and assured us that they were harmless. We hated to leave and will definitely come back again. Thank you Marshall and Tracie for being so dedicated and providing us with such an Amazing stay.

The photos of the cottages really don't do them justice - they are lovely inside and out. We stayed in The Willow Cottage for vacation. The attention to detail is beyond compare and clean, clean clean! We liked the option of eating dinner out or grabbing something at the close by supermarket and having a quiet dinner in. The private hot tub on the deck was a special luxury after a long day of sightseeing. The location of the cottages is rural and quiet, yet close to stores and restaurants. Don't hesitate to book your stay, you won't be disappointed.

The cottages are lovely and large. A great deal of thought went into the furnishing. For example, whenever I needed something in the kitchen, I found it immediately without a long search. The sheets and bed are super comfy. Loved the washer/dryer. Everyone was professional and Asheville nice. Would recommend it. Wish it was closer to walkable amenities, but driving seems to be a must in this city.
