“Adorable and a perfect stay!”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

We've been wanting to stay at the Log Cabin Motor Court for years, but somehow it's been booked each time we've gone to Asheville. This time we lucked out! Headed to Asheville for our anniversary and we stayed in #9 Happy Haven. Super cute and clean. This one is smaller than some of the others - Deb let us look at 3 other cabins that were available that weekend (Sleepy Susan / Double or Nothing and the Black Bear Lodge, which is HUGE). But our little cabin was really great. Nothing fancy, but adorable. Lots of cute touches and it was so cool to stay in an original log cabin from the '30s. The bed we really comfy and we enjoyed a bottle of wine on the rockers on the front porch under the pine trees. The other huge plus is that there is a traditional Bavarian restaurant on site! In a larger log cabin-y place and it's clean as a whistle. We had lunch at the bar and our bartender/server was fantastic - Super attentive and knows her German food! The food was fantastic - I'll review it separately, but how fun to be able to stroll a few cabins down (3 second walk) to get AMAZING German food in a super fun, eclectic space. Loved it.

My stay at Log Cabin Motor Court was one of the most relaxing and stress-free weeks ever. So charming and nostalgic but with nice gas range and new fridge, wi-fi and flat screen TV. It has an out-in-the-woods feel but convenient to Asheville. I had planned on visiting friends in Hendersonville but it was so enjoyable sitting on the porch in a rocking chair with a good book that I never made it. I had everything I needed. My two goldens loved it too. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Such a laid-back experience. The best sleep I've had in months. I definitely will return.

We chose these adorable affordable cabins and could not be happier about it! We chose sleepy Susan #12 due to the fireplace and pet friendly. It was like a step back in time but was really well done. The place had great upkeep and was not run down. Although we saw no evidence of anyone from the office the cleaning ladies were nice. 100% reccomend this little gem!
A very easy drive to the Builtmore estate.

My family and I decided we wanted to stay in a log cabin during our stay in Asheville, and we couldn't have picked better than the quaint Log Cabin Motor Court, which is about a 10 minute drive out of town. Five of us packed into the two bedroom cabin, but there was plenty of room for everyone -- we also had a mini fridge for all of our goodies, which was a big bonus. Everything was clean and tidy, the beds were very comfortable, and the heater kept everyone toasty on a chilly night.

The '30s-era motor court is charming, peaceful, and far enough off the highway to allow for a quiet evening among the whispering pine trees. We also had a little deck with a picnic table in front of our cabin to sit and enjoy the evening and our own grill in case we wanted to make our own dinner.

I've stayed other places in Asheville, but I'll definitely make a return visit to the charming Log Cabin Motor Court.

Great place to stay and we were able to bring our dogs! The cabin was pretty clean, the only down side were little ants in the kitchen, other then that it was perfect for a long weekend. Next time we are in Asheville we stay here :)

If you have ever wondered what it must have been like to stay in a 1930s era motor court, you can't get much closer than this. The road in front of the Log Cabin Motor Court was originally the Dixie Highway, and by the time the cabins were built in the 1930s it was US-25. Several other motor courts were built in this area as well, including the still existing Pines and the second of two Sanders Motor Court & Cafes owned by Colonel Harlan Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame.

The Log Cabin Motor Court was built and owned by the Foster family until 1970. The current owners do a terrific job of keeping the place clean and updated. We stayed in cabin 14 on a very cold January night with snow on the ground. We expected to be a bit uncomfortable but were pleasantly surprised at how well the small stove heated the cabin. The tile on the bathroom floor was cold to walk on, but so what? If these are points of focus for you, you should be in a Fairfield Inn rather than a place like this. This is a VERY special and unique place. If you're coming here for the television and wi-fi (ours worked perfectly, by the way) you completely miss the point of this experience.

If you enjoy two-lane traveling across historic roads like Route 66, the Lincoln Highway, and other U.S. auto trails, do yourself a favor and visit this gem. Then explore the Dixie Highway as it meanders north through the mountains into Tennessee and south into South Carolina.

We read the reviews on TripAdvisor and selected this place because it is pet friendly, very inexpensive and available no short notice. We originally reserved cabin 9 but were notified later that that cabin was closed for maintenance and we were upgraded to cabin 1 - Travelers Rest - at no additional cost. I am certain that our dissatisfaction was mostly due to the fact that we visited during a freezing January weekend. the pros of this place are available on other reviews, but I will agree that despite the location road noise was not a problem, the cabin was comfortably furnished. The cons we experienced were: 1. Wi-Fi was intermittent - my husband is a realtor and was frequently unable to conduct business with his existing buyers and sellers which was REALLY problematic; 2. The hardwired internet connection didn't work and was brought through the window which,as a result, did not lock - our cabin was open to all while we stayed there despite suggesting to the manager (fruitlessly) that a simple broomstick cut to size to block the slider would make us more comfortable; 3. The heater was absolutely the loudest I've ever heard-my husband said it sounded like an airplane was taking off when it came on frequently during our first night (I sleep with earplugs and so was not especially bothered). For his sake we used the provided radiant heater during the remaining nights for sleep which did a barely adequate job keeping the temperature in the room ok for sleeping. In short, as my title indicated, this place is SO CUTE that I wanted to love it but, in the end, I simply can't recommend it for winter stays.
