“Great Spring Get Away”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014

We stayed in the Willow Suite and it was cozy just as described by our wonderful hosts. It was so relaxing there even though the story about the Crooked Oak Tree was as sad one. Everything else was very nice and I would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone looking for that peaceful mountain experience. The breakfasts were amongst the greatest I have ever had anywhere in the world that I have traveled. Everything was provided for convenience such as water, sodas, wine (yum), and snacks. I want to say Thank You for everything to the owners Bear and Patti.

We stayed here recently on a short trip over the mountains from Knoxville, TN. The mountaintop location is amazing. Even though it is up the mountain, it really is just a short 10-15 minute drive from downtown. The grounds are lovely and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. When we came down to breakfast on the first morning, we found a table laden with beautiful fruit and vegan breads. We tucked into that, thinking it was the entire breakfast (which would have been quite sufficient). Then the innkeepers brought out our main course! One morning it was a scramble of greens and tofu, the next it was a plate of big vegan Belgian waffles. Yumm!! We were very happy! We'll be back!!

Room Tip: Ask for a hillside room for the best views.

My wife and I visit Asheville a few times a year when we need a change of pace and full immersion in the arts, crafts, antiques, and food(!) that excel here. Since we discovered Crooked Oak about ten years ago, Patti and Bear have made this our home away from home -- weekends here are a favorite anniversary present for our kids and we're proud to share the B&B & scene with friends who meet us there. This last trip was no exception ... visiting and sharing with favorite sister-in-law we all sat in the garden (lovely new fountain in koi pond) and enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of Crooked Oak's mountain top.

Room Tip: suites are worth it

This was my first time at a B&B and Patti and Bear have set the bar high for anywhere I go in the future. They were so welcoming and clearly enjoy hosting. My room - the Dogwood- was adorable and, looking out the windows, you felt like you were in a treehouse. Great stay!

Patti and Bear could not have been nicer or more helpful during my stay at their lovely B&B. From the delicious breakfasts to the glass of Pinot Noir in the evening, everything was perfect. I even saw a scarlet tanager while having breakfast - a real treat for a northeasterner. I hope to be able to return soon and bring my family with me so they too can enjoy this comfortable, relaxing mountain retreat.

We stay at B&B’s when we travel. This ranks at the top of our experiences. I would recommend getting one the large rooms as the one we stayed in, Mountain Laurel, was smaller than we our use to. Our bedroom at home is large. Breakfast, made to order, was wonderful. Hosts and helpers were first rate.

Room Tip: If available, choose a larger room.

My husband and I needed a weekend away and found this lovely Bed and Breakfast. It was our first time staying in any B&B and I have a feeling this one will be hard to beat! Patti and Bear are super sweet and accommodating. The room was beautiful, comfortable and relaxing and the breakfasts were amazing. It felt like we were staying with relatives. I can['t wait to come back in the fall and marvel at the beautiful landscape once again. Thank you for making our stay in Asheville that much more enjoyable!!
