“Luxury Stays not so luxurious”
Reviewed 29 May 2012

You should know that I am a big fan of the Princess Anne, before you read my comments. Luxury Stay suites are a new annex to the main hotel, which I have stayed in before and loved. It was not mentioned when I made my reservation that these suites were located on a busy street that has much more traffic noise. I was expecting the quiet neighborhood ambience of the main hotel. If you're going to call the new suites "luxury" it would be nice to provide some help with carting baggage, groceries, etc. up the 3 flights of stairs to the room. We were 4 tired and hungry women, which meant lots of stuff to carry. It was difficult to locate the parking and the front door from the instructions we received. So our arrival was more stressful than I would have liked.
I suggest that the management provide more towels (again, 4 women need more than one towel each for 2 days), TP and trash bags. On the positive side, the place was spotlessly clean, spacious and tastefully decorated.
The freestanding tub is charming but inconvenient since there is no place to put shower supplies when the curtains are closed. I don't imagine that many groups will be taking baths in the mornings, but the shower is weird. Also there were no hooks in the bath or bedrooms for hanging robes, clothing, wet towels, etc. and nowhere to put toiletry bags besides the bathroom floor.
For my money, I would be more inclined to book 2 rooms in the main hotel the next time and not have to walk down the street for breakfast (which is excellent, by the way)
As of this review there was no response from management about my comments.

Room Tip: If you don't mind the stairs, go for a top floor suite facing the main road. There's a bit o...

Celeste, we are so sorry to hear that you felt mislead by the name of our new property, the Princess Anne Luxury Stays. We strive to provide a property that doesn't compare to many others in Asheville. With a fully equipped kitchen, granite counter-tops, flat screen TVs, washer & dryer, and quality, top-of-the-line, name-brand furnishings, we hoped that "luxury" conveyed the quality of the apartment itself. We also strive to make the property affordable, when compared with other vacation rentals and hotels in the area.

As an accommodation that tries to run by environmentally sound standards, we provide only one towel, hand towel, and washcloth per guest, in the hopes that during short stays they may be reused. However, if you prefer fresh towels daily, we provide laundry detergent free of charge so that you may launder your towels in your own washer & dryer at your convenience. As for toilet paper and trash bags, I apologize that the additional rolls and bags were not enough, but we would have gladly provided more had you asked.

All of your other suggestions are great and we appreciate the feedback. We will certainly look into correcting these issues, as this is a new, ever changing property. I'm also sorry to hear that there was no management response. I'm not sure whom these issues were addressed to but again, I apologize for the mishandling.

Celeste, in regards to your "room tip", if you found the street to be too noisy, may I suggest an apartment on the backside as it will be quieter. Also, the directions procedure has been updated since your stay. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience, but thank you for your valuable feedback.

We've stayed at the Princess Anne three times and never been disappointed. The quiet neighborhood, excellent service, good food and reasonable rates are hard to beat. This is an old but revitalized structure, so there's no pool and no fitness center. And yes, the hardwood floors creak in places. But the staff are wonderful and the decor does NOT suffer from the "How many different and garish colors can we have?" syndrome. Classy without being stuffy. The breakfast menu typically has only three choices, but they're always delicious.

Room Tip: We've always stayed on the top (third) floor. Don't know if it's just as quiet below.

You're completely correct... often you find color-themed rooms full of antiques you are afraid to sit on. At the Princess Anne Hotel & Luxury Stays, we provide new name-brand furniture with a classic, homey feel. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and continue to return. Thank you for the wonderful review and I'm sure we will see you again soon!

My family and I recently stayed at the Princess Anne. We were not disapointed. Our rooms were very nice, albiet a bit small for the price. The hotel has that "old home" feel and the wooden floors all squeak (which in our opinion was nice). The staff knows the area well and will make plenty of recomendations for dinner and entertainment for your day/evenings. The breakfast is filling and very will done ... there are usually three menu options for breakfast including a vegitarian option. The only drawback is it's not downtown, but it's a short walk over I240 (they say 15 minutes, but we easily made it back and forth to downtown in 10 minutes). Their garden is beautiful and the fragrent herbs are a great touch. Free wine and appy tray out until just after 6pm.

I'm glad our front desk staff was able to provide you with helpful information to make your stay more enjoyable! I'm not sure which room type you were in, but most of our rooms are two-room suites. If you found the Deluxe Room too small then maybe try one of our other rooms next time. Also, next time, be sure to ask the front desk staff for the safest, most convenient route to downtown from our quiet neighborhood. It sounds as if you could have avoided some of the traffic with that information. Thank you so much for your review and we hope to be of service in the future!

We went to Asheville for a weekend getaway and stayed at the Princess Anne luxury apartment about 1 block from the hotel. It is in an old apartment building called the Charlotte. It would be great fun for an extended stay. We felt like we were in a Parisian apartment. It was very fun and a great spot to come to after a day of sight seeing throughout Asheville.

Room Tip: We really love the hotel but they were booked and the luxury apartments were just as fun!

One of the best boutique inns at which we have had the pleasure to stay ever!! Absolutely friendly and helpful staff, John, Ashley and owner Howard; especially since we were trailering a 22 ft sailboat and thus needed some special quidance parking in the quaint neighborhood in which the inn is located. The complimentary hors d'oeuvres were wonderful, and again the staff experts in providing beyond the usual service by plating some up for us as we arrived a bit after the 6pm scheduled ending time. Their dinner recommendations were spot on the money. The suite accommodations are spacious and softly comfortable, well appointed amenities, and the included plated breakfast delicious. We so enjoyed our stay on our way from Michigan to the IntraCoastal Waterway of South Carolina, that we cut our sailing short by a half day so we could return on our way home to stay a second time at the Princess Anne.

Room Tip: Both were excellent.

My husband and I stayed here for our 20th Anniversary and had a wonderful time. It is away from the noise of the city, but close enough to go and enjoy downtown.
