“The Royal Treatment”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

For a hotel that was built in the 20s, this holds up as a modern getaway for couples, small groups or single travelers. The Princess Anne is a beautiful old house that has some old world charm (such as a sink in the bedroom versus the bath) but has been retrofitted to support modern life (free wifi that reaches every room). The location is perfect for visiting Asheville, it is easy walking distance from downtown, several pubs, cafes and Trader Joes. If you want to see the Biltmore, get your tickets here because you get 2 days for the price of 1!

The breakfasts were delicious and the wine and hors d'oeuvres were divine. We happened to be there during a winter storm that basically closed the city down. The staff made calls to find restaurants that were still open for dinner, and offered extra food from the kitchen. In the morning, I asked to borrow a shovel but they shoveled out our car while we had breakfast. That's just a hint of the fantastic service you get here!
If we are ever back in Asheville, this is where we will stay.

Room Tip: The suite with the kitchenette comes with microwave, mini fridge and stove top.

Stayed the Saturday night between Christmas and New Years. There was a cold rain coming down when we arrived and we were greeted by a warm inviting lobby with complimentary wine. They still use real keys which was kind of special. You're transported back to the 20's by the restored exterior and interior of the building. We were upgraded to a suite which provided a nice living room/kitchenette. Breakfast and evening appetizers are included with the rate and are a nice touch being of a higher quality than you typically receive in hotels. I would certainly suggest this for couples as its much more romantic to stay in this hidden little area of Asheville vs right downtown.

Room Tip: The third floor was great because there was no one above you and you look out on the surrounding res...

We spent only one night at this hotel, but it was enough to fall in love with the place. The building is historic and beautifully renovated. Everything was not only clean, but immaculate and so well maintained. Not one stain or ding in sight! The suite was large & comfortably furnished, the bathroom was a tad small but served its purpose nicely. From the young lady behind the desk to the owner of the hotel, everyone was friendly and so very helpful. The afternoon reception was a delightful surprise and we had the opportunity to meet & chat with some of our fellow guests and to partake of the tasty appetizers and surprisingly good wine they offered. Also included in the rate was morning breakfast and it was delicious. Our only regret is that we were not able to stay longer, but we will definitely be going back!

This ended up being the only B&B that rented for one night. All the others are a 2 night minimum. There are only 3 hotels downtown and they were booked. The room was nice but expensive. It cost around $240 with taxes. The hotel is beautiful and historic. They offered hors d'oeuvres and wine during the evening and breakfast that morning. It isn't a walk to downtown in the winter but close enough.

The room was huge and had a separate living and bed room. The only flaw was the bathroom was too small. Just a shower and I really wanted a big tub.

We spent four glorious days in the Asheville area basing out of the Princess Anne Hotel. Our suite was quiet and lovely. Breakfast each morning included several tempting options and we tried them all over the course of the stay. Because we were traveling with several other couples, we missed the wine and appetizers each day - clearly we need to come back and stay again!

This little hotel is located in an older residential neighborhood just north of downtown Asheville. It was easy to find, with great access to the interstate and main roads into the downtown area. Our room was a suite, with very comfortable living space complete with a little kitchenette that included pots and pans, dishes, cups, etc. And of course the coffee maker. It was quiet (except for the floors, which creaked just enough to remind us we were in an historic hotel!) and comfortable. The staff at the front desk were all helpful and very friendly. And breakfast was in a bright, cheerful dining room and was delicious. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wanted something a little different than a chain hotel and who didn't want a B&B. We loved it!
