“Wonderful option for a few days stay in Asheville”
Reviewed 19 March 2012

We just met friends in Asheville for a get-together, and they recommended the Residences. They visit Asheville often and have decided that it's the best place to stay. After 3 nights there we'd agree! All the units are "suites" with separate bedrooms (plus a sofabed in tthe living room) and have full kitchens and a very large bathroom. It's nice to be able to get your own breakfast, or have other meals in instead of eating out every meal. The concierge was able to put us in 2 units next to one another, and both units were very clean and nicely furnished. We didn't use the hot tub and fire pit area up above near the pool, but did see others roasting marshmallows! There is a small fitness room which our fiends used, but we just got lots of walking in around the town. The Residences is nicely situated in between the "Bilmore Village" shops and the downtown area, and pretty close to the entrance of the Biltmore estate, but it is tucked away up a side street (you have to watch carefully for the sign at the entrance!) so that it feels secluded and is very quiet. No mountain views, but you will definitely find it relaxing to sit out on your little balcony. The office is staffed 24 hrs. and we found the desk people very pleasant and eager to help in any way. The only thing I didn't love about the place was that they have french doors in the bedroom instead of windows, and you can't leave them open for fresh air at night. We ended up just leaving the door in the living room that opened out onto the balcony ajar overnight. It's a small thing...the convenience and lovely setting more than makes up for it! I would definitely recommend it, and I feel sure we will use it again on a return trip.

Room Tip: Upper level rooms might be the best if you are bothered by hearing your neighbors walk around overhe...

We stayed here on a recent trip to Asheville and could not have been happier with our choice. Centrally located, it is easy to get to just about everything in the area by walking or a short drive. Our unit was beautifully furnished and immaculately clean with a nice kitchen and modern but still classical decor. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful, from well marked maps and brochures, to restaurant recommendations and even booking tickets for the Biltmore tour for us. You cannot go wrong staying here.

After being on the road for 4 days, the Residences at Biltmore was a pleasant surprise. Situated on a quiet hillside, our quiet, very clean suite was just what we needed. This is the type of place you could stay for several nights and feel very much at home. The washer and dryer in our suite came in very handy. Couldn't wait to soak in the whirlpool tub! Close to shopping, we were able to get what we needed for breakfast and used the fully equiped kitchen. Staff was very helpful with restaurant recommendations for dinner. Great place to sit back and relax and not have to deal with the noise and congestion of a hotel. More like condo living.

Room Tip: Booked through Hotels.com and saved a bundle!

For our Biltmore trip we chose this hotel because of the location and amenities offered. We had the one-bedroom suite. Our group consisted of 3 adults and one teenager. The location is great, the staff was friendly, and the room was clean. One of the main features we looked forward to was the whirlpool tub to soak in after a long day shopping and a tour of the Biltmore. This is where the problems began. After filling the tub and activating the jets for the whirlpool, flakes of black mold came out and were floating all around the tub. I drained the tub several times and refilled it only to have it continue to happen. I went to the front desk and notified the attendant of the problem. He indicated that the tubs probably don't get used much and he would have maintenance check it out. OK, so before we take off to the Biltmore the next day I stopped in to the office (a different attendant on duty) and reminded them of the situation. I indicated we would be gone all day and hoped it would be in working order when we returned that evening. The tub was clean, so I thought it had been taken care of. I filled the tub up again, hit the jets, and the same black flakes came out again! I went to the office again. (Now it is around 9:45 p.m. and another "new" attendant) I was offered another room. I go to that room, fill the tub (before moving to the new room), hit the jets, and the SAME THING HAPPENED!!! To shorten the story I was offered a comp night for the problems. I do want to add that this was not the only problem we encountered in the room. The foldout queen size sleeper sofa was broken, the bottom corner of the foot end keep falling through the frame, the lighted make-up mirror that was supplied with the room had to be replaced (it didn't work) and the light for the drink dispenser was not operational on the refrigerator. Some of this might seem "picky" however, I feel if a hotel is going to advertise that they provide these amenities, they need to be in functional working order, especially for the cost of a nightly stay. If these things are not important to you, then you will have a wonderful stay. Another pet peeve of mine is when you have 4 guests in a room, Why do you only get towels enough for two people? This hotel supplies bathrobes with the room; we got two. Immediately after arrival we had to go to the office and request extra bathrobes and towels....I would return here, but my expectations would be lower and pleasantly surprised if these issues were addressed. And as other reviewers mentioned, the walls are paper thin and smells from other guests who were cooking in their kitchens could be smelled in our room. Again, you have to decide for yourself and hope this helps.

Room Tip: There are 4 floors to this hotel. I would indicate whether you want a view.

My wife and I take periodic getaway weekend trips to Asheville and have stayed in several Asheville hotels to include Hotel Indigo, Grove Park Inn, and Haywood Park. Our recent stay in a Studio Suite at The Residences at Biltmore was the best overall value, with very clean apartment-type accommodations (amenities included fridge, washer/dryer, stove, microwave, etc), large bathroom, small balcony, top-of-the-hill hot tub, pool, and firepit with a view, great location (short walking distance to Biltmore Village and straight 3-minute drive to downtown, Pack Square, Grove Arcade, etc.), and not only courteous and efficient staff but accommodating staff who did not charge us for our first night reservation when we called to inform them at the last minute we would not be arriving that night due to inclement weather. We both highly recommend The Residences at Biltmore.
