We had a nice time at this hotel. The hotel has obviously been converted from a Holidome, but it was nice inside. Staff was quick to turn around some requests that we had, pool was nice indoor/outdoor. Restaurants very close was nice after a long day on the road. We simply stayed here because of the locality to the highway on the road from Chicago to S Carolina. We got a good deal on-line and were happy with all, even the continental B-Fast.

We were here for only one night. The woman at the front desk, Melissa, was very helpful and gave us a great rate. The Best Western downtown was going to charge us at least $30 more for the same room. We were still close enough to downtown to do what we wanted to do. The room was comfortable and clean.

We stayed at the Best Western because we had stayed here before and had an okay time. It is very close to the interstate 40 at exit 44, just so you want get it confused with another Best Western in the area. Just checking in should have been a red flag for me, it took forever for the gentlemen checking in a couple in front of me to get done. When it was my turn to check in it only took about 5 minutes, I was shocked that it was so quick after waiting so long for the others to get done. Oh, well, we got to the room and my husbands favorite thing was not working (the tv remote) which after a little delay was taking care of by the maintence guy. We played in the indoor and outdoor pools, which was nice of course, but one policy they have is NO food or drinks are allowed at the pool area. A sign points out that you would be ask to leave the area if you break this rule. (SAD). There are bathrooms by the pool area, hot tub, sauna, game room, exercise room, billiard tables, putting green, alot to do. We stayed only one night and went back home, with plans to go further south the next day, until I discovered that the host had kept my drivers license when we checked in. After calling to see about them they told me they would mail them to me possibly within the next couple of days, but we decided to drive back (130 miles) to get them. I ask to speak to the manager, she was not there yet, they told me that it was a common practice that they end up mailing a lot of drivers license about every 2 or 3 weeks because people forget them, they keep the license when you sign up for the pool tables and putters for the putting green. But we had not done either of these activities, we just checked in and the guy behind the counter ask to see my license and he didn't return them. After our drive back to the place, the lady at the counter told me she would let the manager know of our inconvience and she would call me in a few days. Never have got a call or any means of compensation for our trouble. Traveler beware, you may enjoy your stay, until you have to go back for you license !

We stayed here because they have a pet policy and we most always travel with our little Chihuahua. So needless to say, we got a room way in the back of the property. The room itself wasn't to bad, smelled of smoke but hey, what can you expect for the price and the circumstances of travelling with a pet. Room was clean enough, comfortable and it suited us just fine. Room had a refrig and microwave, TV had plenty of channels and the A/C worked good. The pool was nice, we spent some time around the inside pool which was more impressive since it was located within the large atrium and we had the pool all to ourselves (930 at night). All in all the hotel was clean and the staff was friendly and efficient to our needs.
The eating situation worked out pretty good too. Theres a nice restaurant next door called "FATZ" and the food and service was great!! There is also an Applebys next door on the other side of the hotel (both restaurants within easy walking range) and we went over there during the night and had a few drinks. Again, good service, but we didn't eat there. We did't partake of the Continental B'fast the hotel had as we had our own stash of stuff to munch on.
Hotel was right off the interstate (I-40) and about 10 miles from the Biltmore House which was our main reason for being there. So we only stayed for 1 night and if and when we're back we will most likely stay here again because we enjoyed it and with no complaints.

My mom and I stayed here in May, 04. We asked for a smoking room, got a non smoking one. The lobby was beautiful and staff was sort of friendly. Depending on the time of day.
Room was clean and cont. breakfast was ok. The pics. don't relay the rather questionable neighborhood this hotel is in.
Would we stay here again?.. prob. not.
