“walk to everything”
Reviewed 6 October 2011

This is the place to stay if you want to walk around downtown Asheville. Staff is friendly, Breakfast special for $2.99 was a bargain and room was more than adequate. And then there is the comfortable Sheraton beds.
We walked to a nearby restaurant Olive and Twist for dinner, that was fine. And the hotel was only a block from the Thomas Wolfe museum/historic boarding house, a great bargain tour for a $1 admission. If you are a Starwoods (Sheraton member), and everybody should be for the value of their points, you would be crazy not to stay here.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. The hotel is very average with it's greatest claim to fame being the location to downtown Asheville. We walked everywhere! Our room faced the pool and it wasn't noisy given that in early October the weather was around 50 degrees so no one was using the pool. Half of the hotel faces the highway so when booking as for a hotel on the downtown side. The double beds are really small for two people and they are super uncomfortable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing downtown

My only issue is that this property is just south of Hwy 26 and if you have a room that faces the highway that you will hear every truck and most cars as they pass by. Also as other reviewers have noted the walls seem to be pretty thin and it's easy to hear other guests next door or above you. The hotel staff was very polite in every interaction we had with them.

While the rooms are not lavishly appointed they are outfitted with better grade furnishings and fixtures. The property appears recently refurbished and we were pleased to see a wall mounted LCD TV in the room. Better than average beds and plenty of hot water are always nice.

The location is ideal for basing day trips into the Blue Ridge mountains and surrounding area; and you sit just on the north side side of downtown with much of Asheville's funky and eclectic shopping and dining nearby.

The Chop House restaurant is as it sounds a steak house with a very limited menu. it seems to be a tenant of the hotel but not an actually a hotel restaurant. Staff was with one exception indifferent in their service and interactions with guests on the 3 occasions I ate there. Food was OK but I did feel that the menu was overpriced even for a hotel restaurant.

Room Tip: Avoid the highway side!

Thank you for your feedback. We try our best to accomodate our guests but on nights we are at a high occupancy level it is hard to move people away from the highway. I will be happy to pass along your feedback to the restaurant manager as well. Please allow us an opportunity so we can make your next stay uncomplicated.

This was my first stay in Asheville and the Sheraton Four Points was chosen for rate and location. The hotel is old and our room was quite musty, but adequate. We kept the a/c low and fan on at all times to ensure better comfort. Room amenities were as expected and the hotel did provide a mini-fridge as we requested before arrival, at no charge. The front desk personnel were very helpful with suggestions of what to see and do, as well as directions when needed. The location of the hotel is great and right off the main streets of stores and lots of restaurants. Asheville is a great little town with much local history where you can safely stroll and enjoy all it has to offer. I would stay there again.

The Four Points is in the downtown area of this attractive mountain city (a magnet to artisans and craftspeople from the entire South Appalacian region). Our room was comfortable and well-furnished, the bed of good quality, and the service personnel were cheery and responsive. The onsite restaurant was never crowded, and it offered a good array of standard offerings, well-prepared (including a $2.99 breakfast, comprised of freshly cooked eggs, bacon/sausage and toast, rather than the standard packaged continental fare found in most hotels/motels). Outdoor parking was adequate in capacity, and free of charge.

At under $100 per night (AAA rate,mid-week), it represents a very good value in our experience.

The Doubletree Hotel Biltmore is a comfortable hotel to stay in while still being close to the entertainment of Asheville. The staff was quick and the hotel/ rooms were clean and comfortable.

Location was great- just a few blocks to downtown - safe and nice walking. The Doubletree is almost a gem for giving you the chance to get out of the main street traffic but still be close enough to enjoy Asheville.

When we arrived we sat in the restaurant/ bar for a cocktail. The bartender was great and helped us look through the weekends upcoming events, concerts, activities etc. in the Asheville Newspaper. He was great- very professional and helpful!

We would stay here again.

Four Points Asheville Downtown was satisfactory for my last Asheville visit. The hotel is a little dated, but the room had been adequately renovated. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The pillows left a little to be desired as they included two very soft pillows and two very large, square, firm pillows - that didn't have pillow cases - on our king sized bed.

Customer service was fine. We stopped by the hotel hoping to check in early and there was a wait, which was fine, but the representative offered to give us a call when a room opened up and never did. That said, the hotel was booked during our stay. I requested a room facing the city rather than the highway and did at least get that. Our room was near the elevator, and possibly a little noisier than others. We were pleased to find free Wi-Fi in the rooms, but had to call a customer service number to successfully connect. This took about 5-10 minutes, not a big deal.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. I don't really think the room was worth its $200+/night price, but in Asheville, Four Points can get away with it. The location is awesome and Asheville is such a great, walkable city. There are only four (that I know of) hotels downtown, so sometimes you take what you can get.
