We stayed here for a weekend in May and were very pleased with the property, location, and hosts. The B&B is in a large home in a residential neighborhood within walking distance (10-15 min) of downtown Asheville. We stayed in the Miss Webb room and it was very comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. The "common areas" of the house are also very nice, and there is a great front porch with plenty of space for sitting outside.

The hosts are super nice and provided us with some great advice on restaurants, etc. There is also a happy hour in the evenings with homemade appetizers, drinks, etc. Breakfast was fresh, homemade 2-course gourmet, accompanied by fresh juice and coffee/tea/etc...and was super yummy! They were happen to accommodate my gluten allergy for breakfast as well.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return again.

This is a beautiful home -- tasteful and comfortable without being fussy or frou-frou; the kind of home you'd be happy to live in yourself. It's in a lovely, tree-lined neighborhood a short 10-minute walk from Pack Square's shops, restaurants and entertainment. James was a very personable and accommodating host -- exactly the right level of friendliness, attention and service without being at all intrusive. Susan prepared beautiful breakfasts, hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Or room was perfect -- four-poster bed, good mattress, luxury bed linens, fireplace, flat screen TV and private bath with shower and jacuzzi. A very high-quality experience for quite a bit less than the downtown hotels.

Room Tip: We had a room on the second floor in the front of the house that was quiet, shady, private and extre...

In mid-June we spent three nights, Thursday thru Sunday, in the Cottage at the Carolina Bed & Breakfast (CB&B). Those were three of the best nights we've ever spent anywhere. It made our trip to Asheville that much more special. We stayed in the cozy Cottage that sits behind the CB&B. That was our first stay there and we will definitely be back. The accommodations were great, the service was fantastic and the owners, James and Susan, were wonderful. I can't speak for the rooms that are in the CB&B main house but as for the Cottage, it was wonderful. I highly recommend staying there.

Accommodations: The Cottage was tucked just behind the CB&B main house and the house sits in a beautiful and very quiet neighborhood. Although the Cottage sits behind the house you feel like you are in your own world back there. The Cottage is very cozy but not small. But I'll warn you, the bed was heaven. It was so soft and comfortable it practically kidnapped us. We joked we want to come back for a stay and just spend those days lying in the bed. It was summer so we did not use the fireplace that sits near the bed but we will come back for a winter stay so we can. There was air conditioning and it was quiet and comfortable. We did leave the windows open at times, there are plenty to allow for a nice breeze to come through. There is also a nice day bed to cuddle on to watch TV. The bathroom was very nice. The shower was a waterfall in a two person whirlpool tub. Very roomy and comfortable. I also purchased the Romance package which included red Roses, chocolate and champagne. It was well worth it, my girlfriend loved it. Overall we cannot say enough about how much we loved our stay in the Cottage. I'm sure the rooms in the house were nice but we enjoyed the Cottage so much we will always stay in it on our return trips.

Service: Breakfast is served in the main house but if you stay in the cottage you can arrange to have it brought to you, we didn't so I can't speak to how that worked. We also missed the first day because we overslept in the big soft bed. We made breakfast the next day and it was fantastic. The breakfast was very well done and it was also fun sitting with the others and chatting. The last day we had to get going so we unfortunately missed it again, but on our return we will make a point to enjoy breakfast more often. Also in the evenings they had a get together in the main house with wine and hors d'oeuvres . Again very well done. We also sat on the front porch swing and enjoyed the quiet and beauty of the neighborhood.

Owners: James and Susan were very entertaining and enjoyable. We did not require much from them but for the little we did they were fantastic.

Overall: A+. Especially for a couple the Cottage was the perfect place to stay. We enjoyed the place so much we can't wait to get back.

Room Tip: If you are a couple stay in the Cottage.

This was our first time visiting North Carolina and since we flew into Charlotte we booked our first night at another B&B there. The experience was underwhelming to say the least. So we were already a bit skittish about our accommodations for the rest of our time, which was all in Asheville at the Carolina B&B. We had nothing to worry about. From our greeting by Susan as soon as we approached the back patio we were made to feel welcome, comfortable and very well taken care of. We stayed in the cottage, which has a very comfortable king bed, small kitchen (which we never used, except for the fridge), easy chairs and spacious, nicely appointed bathroom complete with large whirlpool tub. The neighborhood is a quiet residential street that lent itself to pre-breakfast walks. And the breakfasts were absolutely delightful, imaginative, expertly executed and graciously served. I could go on, but let me just say that we have stayed in a lot of B&B's throughout the country and our much too short four night stay at the Carolina ranks as one of the very best.

My 10 year old daughter and I stayed with James and Susan at the Carolina B&B, and really loved the experience. The inn is a beautifully restored Craftsman, in a historic neighborhood with many beautiful homes and gardens, with a unique, creative, Asheville style. Susan is a fantastic cook - no continental breakfasts here, rather quiches and belgian waffles with bacon...James is a generous and friendly host ready with a wealth of information when you need it. The inn is truly within walking distance to downtown. The right place, location, price, and experience. My 10-year old requested that we go back!

James and Susan think of everything! Greeted immediately upon arrival then encouraged to relax. The food was fun and fresh! My sister and I loved the happy hour, got great suggestions from James, and had a pleasant walk to downtown for dinner and drinks. Thank you and we WILL be back. Almost forgot- the bed was heavenly!

It's hard to put into words how amazing our experience was. First, James and Susan are amazing owners, incredibly attentive, wonderfully educated about Asheville, and just delightful people! My wife and I stayed in the Cottage for our honeymoon and it was phenomenal - breakfast in bed each morning, accomodations away from the main house but close enough to enjoy others - perfect! The breakfasts were just spectacular and very different for an eggs and bacon kind of guy. The restaurants they recommended were all wonderful, we tried about half of them, and we were always stunned at how good the food and service were. The afternoon wine happy hour was also enjoyable, and the front porch is great for relaxing and socializing. I could go on and on, just stay here if you're wondering where to stay in the Asheville area. We know we'll be back!

Room Tip: The Cottage is great for a couple!
