We like to stay in B&B's when we aren't traveling in our motorhome. Our stay at the Lion and Rose the first weekend of December was excellent. Mr. & Mrs. Palmer went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcome. A pantry with snacks, home made cookies, bottled water, tea, and even an evening sherry were at our fingertips. Every morning we sat at a beautifully set table waiting for Mr. Palmer to wow us with his culinary talents! He takes special care with his menu choices; savory one day sweeter the next. Our room was located on the 2nd floor & was cozy with a queen bed, 2 Queen Ann chairs and in suite, private bath. If I had to find anything to suggest that might have been better for us, it would be the lighting in the bath. My eyes aren't that great any more and we could use a bit brighter fixture. The Inn is located close to town, but the neighborhood was very quiet at night. The Palmers also know the area restaurants very well and helped direct us to great choices. We will suggest the Lion & Rose to anyone visiting Asheville.

You cannot go wrong with the L&R B&B. Jim and Linda Palmer are the best when it comes to hosting such an establishment. The location is just a short drive from downtown and the Biltmore. The breakfast is always well prepared and they will accommodate any dietary need. Very relaxing atmosphere and a everyone is welcomed. The one recommendation I would make is it may be time to consider new mattresses and by saying that I'm really searching for an area to improve!

Room Tip: You can't go wrong with any of the rooms

A wonderful home with great owners whose attention to detail was evident in the way they made our suite comfortable yet rich with wonderful pieces of art and furniture. The breakfast cuisine each morning only added to the quality of our stay; Jim is truly a passionate chef! My husband and I will most certainly return to the Lion and the Rose for our next Asheville trip. What a great atmosphere Jim and Linda have created!

Stayed for 3 nights and loved every minute of it! Jim and Linda were gracious and provided us with everything we could want or need. Loved the breakfasts that Jim prepared. Our room was very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.

Just returned from our trip in Asheville and stay at The Lion and The Rose was a wonderful experience. We arrived half hour earlier and were greeted graciously by Jim and Linda(a wonderful couple). This property is more than 100 years old. The B&B is beautiful with antiques. We chose to stay in the Marion room which was too comfortable and immaculate. Its the biggest room in the in.This room had beautiful antiques, a lovely fireplace and a sitting area with beautiful views to watch movie or read books. Jim and Linda provided all the amenities you would require especially loved their pantry with all the unlimited supply of cookies, brownies, tea, coffee, soft drinks and not to forget you can help yourselves with complementary Port and sherry!! Linda is such a adorable person she helped me to reheat my food and we had a little chit chat, Jim served us with scrumptious breakfast. This B&B is perfect for Honeymooners. Our whole stay was lovely and i would definitely return back

Room Tip: Marion Hall was the largest room with all amenities available. Perfect for honeymooners.

We visited just before Halloween, which Jim and Linda celebrate famously. Our 2
-day visit with a cousin was fabulous. Delicious breakfasts, beautiful accommodations - everything was great! No downsides!

Felt like home right from the start, the attention to detail was amazing! We had a larger room with TV / Daybed area & working fireplace which made it so cozy & homey. Especially liked the "guest pantry" and access to the first floor - very nice. Breakfast a bit heavy, would be nice to add a "lighter" option...Great location, all in all, the nicest B&B we've stayed in. Hope to return someday...

Room Tip: Marion Hall room was excellent
