Absolutely beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood. Even in an area with great old homes, this one stands out - how often is your B&B a photo-op on the local tour bus route? The bedrooms are just as nice as the public rooms - well appointed and spotless.

Jim and Linda are wonderful hosts who provide almost everything you could want. The are snacks in the afternoon and port and sherry in the evening. We sat on the comfortable porch one evening drinking port with 4 other guests and really enjoying Ashville.

We'll stay here next time we're in Ashville.

Our reservations to The Lion and The Rose were due to the highly recommended reviews on their site. The 200 year old house is in the historic area of Montford not far from downtown Ashville. The ambience of the house with it's beautiful antique furniture and art pieces made it easy to relax in the choice of two palors . The breakfast were gourmet delights with candlelight and served on beautiful dishes. With only 5 rooms every want was anticipated including 24/7 hot and cold beverages, cookies and salty snacks. We never found that in a B&B before. Our suite, on the whole third floor, was beautifully appointed and with 2 rooms. working fireplace, jacuzzi tub and porch with chairs and table. We loved the stain glass window in the door. We will be back in the warm weather. I had several days of not feeling well and slept through breakast which Linda had brought up to me when I awakened. What service. We were impressed by our whole experience and would highly recommend staying for a trip back in time even to the port and sherry available in crystal decanters to pour into crystal glasses. A evening treat while talking to other guest in one of the parlors. The wrap around porch and garden looked like it would be inviting in the warm weather.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights and I'm pleased to say we really enjoyed it. Everything is done for the Guests and the Hosts Jim and Linda are superb (how anybody could say they were rude is beyond us. Everything you could want from a B&B is there and we would'nt hesitate to reccommend it to everybody - and if you happen to be there at Halloween it is unbelievable (see their blog). The breakfasts are really sumptuos and having Tea or Coffeee delivered to your room is great. Many thanks Linda and Jim - if we are ever in the area again we will definitely come back to you as you made our stay GREAT. Jan and Tony (UK).

We really enjoyed our stay here. We only regret not having more time to just hang out at the B&B (too busy visiting Biltmore). Fresh flowers throughout the inn and stashes of chocolate in every room. But the best memory will be the wonderful breakfasts - better than anything we've had in a B&B!

Jim and Linda run a great B&B. This historic home is convenient to downtown Asheville and all the major sites.

The inn is well appointed with antiques, reasonably priced, and Jim's breakfasts are fantastic. When we go back to Asheville this will be where we stay.

Of special note: Jim was able to accommodate the dietary restrictions that my diabetes demands. Each day he made small adjustments and if anything was particularly problematic, it would be on the side with a great substitution.

I just returned from a trip to Asheville with four friends. Our stay at the Lion and Rose could not have been better. The house is gorgeous -filled with antiques- and Jim and Linda were so nice and accommodating. We all fell in love with Cedric. Breakfast in the formal dining room with beautiful china and candlelight was really special. This B&B definately deserves all the high ratings it has received.

Four friends and I booked all five lovely rooms at the Lion and the Rose for four days making it "our own". But Jim and Linda Palmer made it so much better than home. Hot tea or coffee (or even Diet Coke) outside your room each morning. Delicious, creative breakfasts served in a lovely candle-lit dining room with music playing softly in the background. Fully stocked pantry available to guests 24/7. Beautifully tended gardens and a welcoming porch. Printed directions,sight-seeing suggestions, restaurant recommendations---epitome of organization. And spotlessly clean throughout. See what I mean by better than home.
