“Lovely house and wonderful owners”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

The Wright Inn is a beautiful Victorian house surrounded by gorgeous gardens and trees. The owners and their son will take superb care of you. Every morning after breakfast (which was delightful) the family makes sure that you have directions to your destination, discount tickets if possible and extremely helpful pointers to allow you to get the most out of your day. They are unobtrusive, but always there when you need them.

The rooms are of every size and shape, so they should have just what you want. All the furniture is either a lovely antique or a period reproduction, except for the minuscule television in the room. We didn't watch it and didn't miss it, but if you think you will need a big screen TV this might not be the place for you.

The house is 5-minute drive to anywhere in Asheville (including the Biltmore entrance) and about a 7-minute walk to UNC Asheville. 5-stars all the way.

Room Tip: Ask the owner about the choices and discounts for staying longer. He has large rooms, suites, small...

Friends and family have now stayed at the Wright Inn here twice when they came to visit us and they have been absolutely delighted with their time at the inn. The owners and staff have been like family themselves in how they treated us, their neighbors, as well as our guests. I can't say enough about this beautiful home and gardens and warm and welcoming owners. Make it your getaway place and you will not be disappointed.

The Wright Inn and Carriage House is a beautiful property. Everything about our stay was just wonderful. Tom and Bob's local recomendations saved us many hours of time as well as money. Our first morning started with a delicious breakfast, after a conversation with Tom about possibly starting our day with a trolley tour. He not only suprised us by informing us the the Wright Inn was one of the tour stops, he provided us with tickets and even called the trolley company to make sure that they knew to pick us up in front of the house. Now that is service!
Our stay of five days at the Wright Inn was filled with great food, a beautiful porch to relax on, fun and informative conversations with the Gilmore family (make sure to meet Traveler), helpful and accurate advice about the Asheville area and as a bonus, They even have several coupons that they are happy to provide. If you are considering a stay at The Wright Inn and Carriage House, do yourself a favor and choose to stay there. You will not be disappointed. Be sure to take some time to relax on the porch and enjoy a conversation or two with the Gilmore Family. Don't forget to meet Traveler!

This was an impromptu long-weekend getaway. After experiencing the loveliness of the inn, I am shocked that there was availability so close to the time of our stay. The hosts are very knowledgeable about the area, and the restoration of the Victorian house is absolutely lovely. It seems like a lot of places that advertise themselves as beds and breakfasts these days don't actually serve a real breakfast, but not so here. The breakfast is absolutely wonderful and each day included a fruit salad of some sort, a breakfast bread, and a breakfast entrée. There is one seating at breakfast which can be a little limiting depending on the hours you keep, but knowing this ahead of time, the breakfast and service is well worth it!!! The hosts are a great resource for information about what to see and do in the area and how to go about doing it. I love the location...very convenient to downtown, yet in a beautiful residential area. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the upstairs smaller rooms due to budgetary constraints. It suited our needs we...

We came to Asheville for a wedding which included 3 days of events. We chose a B&B (instead of the Renaissance Hotel where they had a group of rooms booked), and was not disappointed at all in the 1899 Wright Inn. it was very convenient to all of the events, we felt right at home, had wonderful breakfasts, and were given excellent directions, suggestions, etc.Tom ( does he ever sleep) gave my husband extensive information about the house and the renovations. We stayed in the Green room which was very comfortable and we loved that it had its own little balconey that was accessed through our window. We highly recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: stairs are steep so if you have a knee problem (like my husband), don't choose a high floor.

My wife and I came to the Wright Inn for the first time last weekend on a quick last minute escape for the night when our kids went to the grandparents' house. Even though it was a spur of the moment trip to Asheville, it could not have gone better. The Inn is beautiful and cozy. It is also convenient to both the Grove Park and downtown Asheville. The breakfast was spectacular. The other guests made for good breakfast conversation. Our hosts even made reservations on our behalf at a great restaurant they suggested as we fought traffic getting out of Charlotte. We could not have been happier. We will definitely return.
