“Great location, nice visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2013

We stayed at the Beaufort Inn for our anniversary recently. The hosts are very friendly and the house is inviting. The bed was not very comfortable and the house is loud if other guests are talking. I was up until 12am hearing the ladies upstairs talking. The breakfast was delicious. The location was
perfect for walking to
downtown. Overall it was a nice getaway.

Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback on TripAdvisor. We work hard to please our guest everyday so we take this feedback very seriously.
We also appreciate that you chose to celebrate your anniversary with us. We take that responsibility seriously and are pleased that your overall experience was a positive one.

As you mentioned, we are very sorry that you did not find the bed to be comfortable. We have not had similar comments about the bed in the Garden Room so we were unaware that might be a problem. We have found that guests have a wide variety of sleeping preferences so sometime our beds are different than what you are used to. We are so sorry the bed did not meet your expectations.

Also, we are very dismayed that noise from other guests was disturbing to you. This is extremely unusual because of the size and construction of the Inn. We discovered after you left, that the two sisters, who were staying on the 3rd floor suite with their 89 year old Mother, were enjoying their boisterous reunion in the hallway (while their Mother slept) rather than in the sitting room of their suite as typically happens. We wish you would have called us so we could have addressed the situation immediately. We provide our personal cell phone numbers to all guests at the front desk and in the binder in your rooms. When we are aware of a problem we try to address it immediately to ensure that your time with us is an exceptional experience.
In any case we apologize for any inconvenience you experienced.

Our reputation in the marketplace is critical to our survival. TripAdvisor is a key instrument in this effort, and a poor review has a strong negative impact on our reputation, occupancy and business success. In over 6 years we have had almost 550 TripAdvisor reviews and this was only the 4th time we have received a rating of 3.

In any case, we hope that you will return to the Beaufort House on your next trip to Asheville and give us an opportunity to demonstrate how exceptional our hospitality can be.
Thanks

Impressive, historic house and grounds that have obviously been lovingly restored and maintained. The large porch with swing and rocking chairs is great to sit with coffee after breakfast on a chilly morning or a glass of wine in the evenings. The innkeepers and all staff we encountered were super welcoming, professional, and had great recommendations for the local area. Super tasty 2 course breakfast served in formal dining area each morning at 9am. Lovely quiet neighborhood. 10-15 walk to the downtown shopping area. The only word of warning I would have is to remember that all old houses have their quirks and creaks. You will hear your neighbors coming up the wooden central stairwell. Our door knob fell off one morning. Four poster beds and claw foot tubs look cool, but may not be as comfortable/functional as more modern travelers are used to (although water pressure was surprisingly good). So just know before you go that it's a tad like staying in a museum, if that's not your thing then pick elsewhere.

Room Tip: If you have any hip or knee problems or bad balance, then don't stay in the Davidson room. The t...

Thanks so much for the exceptionally complimentary review you gave us. We try very hard make the guest experience in Asheville, and at our Inn, a memorable one, so we are grateful when guests enjoy their experiences and notice the details and hospitality we put so much effort into.

We appreciate your observations and the many kind things you said.
We also know that as a historic property there are some unique characteristics of the Inn including, creaks on the stairs, antique wavy glass windows, etc, that guests find are part of the character and charm.

My only clarification to your comments is that we really endeavor to avoid anything that makes the beauty of this historic property seem at all like a museum. We have really attempted to simplify the décor so that the architecture and design of the Inn can be be savored, enjoyed and comfortably lived in.

GQ Magazine visited us and described us as “Stately….not stuffy” That is what we are going for.

We have tried to combine the beauty and ambiance of this historic property with its extraordinary wood work, fireplaces, porch and design….with many modern conveniences of including white hotel linens, WIFI, LCD TVs, IPOD players, etc.

So thanks for your kind review and we hope you will visit us again soon.

Thanks

This is the epitome of a good bed and breakfast; unique Victorian property; charming and generous hosts Jim and Chris; friendly and helpful staff Erica and Stephanie who checked us in, showed us around and gave us the history of the house. Here breakfast is an event, not just a cinnamon roll and a cup of coffee. Everybody gathers at 9am, or earlier to get coffee, chat or read the papers. Chris introduces the menu and then everybody is served. Conversation with fellow guests is natural and easy.

The house is within walking distance of downtown Asheville, and about a 20 minute drive from Biltmore.

They serve complimentary wine from 5pm to 7pm, which is another great way to meet and talk with fellow guests, and have a huge file of local restaurant menus; Asheville is loaded with great eateries!

Definitely would recommend, and when, not if, we get back to Asheville we'll stay here without doubt.

My husband surprised me by reserving a couple of nights at the Beaufort House Inn last spring. This B&B is truly wonderful. The owner is friendly and accommodating. I wish I could remember the name of the first floor room we stayed in - the bed was soooo comfortable.

Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

We were able to walk to the downtown area of Asheville from the B&B location - that was a big plus for us.

Cannot wait to go back to Asheville and the Beaufort House Inn.

We had a great time in Asheville. The staff at Beaufort House treats everyone like family. They were very helpful in navigating Asheville and making recommendations. Breakfast was great especially because Chris catered to my gluten-free diet. The atmosphere is relaxed. We will return again, hopefully soon!

Wonderful B&B very close to downtown Asheville. Close enough to walk, but a half mile away from the hustle/bustle. The innkeepers were awesome. Very friendly, very helpful. Wonderful breakfast and great conversation. We'll be back.

We loved our stay at the Beaufort house! We had a short two days in Asheville and are so happy we chose this beautiful inn. The owners were incredibly friendly and the breakfast was also delicious including fresh herbs from their garden. The location was also incredibly convenient to downtown Asheville. Our only minor complaint was our room was likely not the best choice. There was a super tiny shower/toilet combo. Advice would be to try something other than the halestine room.
