For the money, it is what we expected. Clean rooms, recently updated, very comfortable beds. Easy trip to downtown. Was pretty unsure when we first saw it, but even with oddly laid out rooms ( one bed directly under the window AC unit) it was a fine place to stay for a couple of nights.

A vehicle breakdown caused me to stay here because it was close to the garage doing the repairs, and I was stranded. It had been 'newly remodeled' which I think means it had new carpet in the room, as that was all I could see that was new. This place needs serious work and cleaning. It appears to have been chopped up to make as many rooms as possible (and some more than possible). I was in a spot or would NEVER have stayed there.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else (unless you are stuck like I was).

We found Rock Havern Tavern because it was one of the only motels in North Western Ashville. The price was $60 and the room we had was located in the basement. The motel must have been a house converted to a motel. The rooms were very large with a tv, large kitchen fridge, and a couch recliner with 3 queen size beds. The bathrooms were very very very large and the rooms were cleanish. The only problem was that the room smells of smoke which i cant stand. Overall the stay was average. I feel we could have gotten a better room somewhere else for 20 more dollars

Travelling through NC on a budget road trip, this seemed to be the only old place left in town. It's a cute old place, maybe from the '40s, a bunch of small 2-3 unit stone cottages.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that there was maybe one other car, they stuck me in their worst room, a ground floor unit all the way to one side. For all I know, if might have originally been a carport for the units above. It was pretty threadbare, and the carpet was really grungy. It did have some nice wood paneling on one wall, but the effect was generally that of crashing in a poor student's basement efficiency.

For this privilege, I paid $55. Not a rip-off, but I've done a lot better for a lot less.

  • Liked — Rooms I didn't get seemed okay
  • Disliked — Horrible basement room
