Owner description: Relive the Kennedy era in this dynamic combination museum and library, where your visit starts with a short film and then leaves you on your own to explore a series of fascinating exhibits, including the Kennedy-Nixon debate, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the space program, 1960s campaign paraphernalia and displays about Jacqueline and other Kennedy family members. The striking, I.M. Pei-designed building overlooks the water and the Boston skyline.

Difficult to find, signage not great if you are driving. The museum is easy to navigate and the displays are interesting. Brought back many memories of the Kennedy era. Doesn't take long to see everything.

Off the beaten path in south Boston. Good exhibits, but I expected more artifacts compared to other presidential sites I have visited.

As someone who came of age during Kennedy's presidency, the museum immediately brought back memories of that time. An introductory film shows the Kennedy family history and JFK's life leading up to the 1960 election. Videos show Kennedy's most famous speeches, including his inaugural address ("Ask not what your country can do for you..."), his visit to Berlin ("Ich bin ein Berliner"), and more. Of course, there is extensive coverage of his assassination and the subsequent funeral, as well as of the Civil Rights battles and the Cuban Missile Crisis (Playa Giron). It's a great reminder for those of us who lived through these events, and an excellent history lesson for others.

We spent an afternoon at the JFK Museum and Library. (I really like presidential libraries, especially the Abraham Lincoln Museum and Library.) The Kennedy Museum was a real learning experience for us and also for our 12 year old grandson.

This ended up being one of the unexpected highlights of my time in Boston.
For a visitor to the city, it is a little off the main tourist trail, but easily accessible by train to JFK/UMASS station and then a free shuttle bus to the Library.
Once there, it is like being transported back in time to experience the era of JFK's rise to prominence, election, and time in the White House.
Recent historical highlights included tapes of interviews with Jackie shortly after his death that have been released in the past year, as well as tapes from the Oval Office during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
The exhibits give great insight into what life was like in the White House, as well as the political issues of the time. His death is handled only briefly and respectfully, which is a nice change from many other JFK exhibits which can focus almost exclusively in this.
I was there in winter but it was still a lovely spot to wander by the water, I'm sure in warmer weather it is extremely popular.
There is a small cafe but it seemed expensive. The gift shop has all kinds of JFK memorabilia.
