This is a vast and spacious place mixing the old with the new - free to enter and well worth a wander around - do see the reading room in the old building when you are there.

The library is a gem. An architechtural beauty, aside from an intellectual wonderpiece. This is a place we should have visited years ago, when we first visited Boston. Each and every room is worthy of any museum, and then there's the great library. We will visit each and every room and corridor every time we are in town from now on.
This place is a beautiful masterpiece of architecture. It took us about 30 minutes to roam the halls. Definitely worth a quick trip.
I checked out the Boston Libary while visiting other sites. It was a large inner city library that had obviously implemented a number of features to enable patrons to both interact digitally and with paper references. I circulated through the building and while it would be a place to hang out, rest, and connect; it's not a stop I'd recommend just to see the architecture or other features of the building.
They have a good collection of books, with easy membership registration. Courteous staff and close to public transport!
Just wander through the various rooms and levels; News Cafe is a reasonable quick lunch place; soup was very good.
