Great to visit, right off the Freedom Trail. A lot of famous people are buried here, including Samuel Adams, John Hancock, even Mother Goose.

“This is History!”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Established in 1660 this place is history. Paul Revere, Sam Adams, John Hancock, Robert Paine, James Otis and many others central to the story of the American Revolution. Tip your hats to them and say a prayer because we owe the existence of our country to these heroes.

“A Place of History”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

They will tell you that the graves are sort of mingled, but when you walk by, and in, you realize that the likes of Samuel Adams and John Hancock are buried there, as well as Ben Franklin's parents (Ben ending up in Philadelphia). So if you have any feeling for those who started the War for Independence, a walk through Granary will take you back in time to ponder what they did. There are often some guides there who can add to the experience.

“Outside Gates/Inside Gates”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

The first time we saw this graveyard was in the early evening after arriving in Boston. We had walked through the Common heading to a Pub and came across its closed gates. We peered in at all the dead with their tombstones and the grounds and promised ourselves that we'd visit it on another day. On the third day coming back from the North end, we entered its grounds. It was such an oasis of calm after all the busy noise we had encountered earlier in the day. The history! The trees! Conjuring up the centuries and decades which have passed, all the while you are peering OUT the gates to the street in front. One of the MUSTS when traveling to Boston.

“Interesting cemetery”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

This shaded cemetery in the heart of Boston is on the Freedom Trail. There was a man outside the cemetery passing out information books that he obviously put together and expected a "donation" when you returned them. We did find them helpful. What an awe-inspiring experience to see the graves of Paul Revere and John Hancock among others.
