“Great location for business or pleasure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

I was staying in Boston for a convention at the Hynes convention center. For the purpose of work this is a great location. You can cut through the mall to get to the convention center without a problem.

I was fortunate enough to have some time to explore Boston as well. And this is an excellent location. You are within walking distance to great restaurants in the back bay area, the south end, and a short walk to Fenway. Make sure to take the duck tour that is right outside your hotel. Don't take the ones that are down by the wharf area.

We had a great room overlooking the river and the staff was outstanding. Yes there was a large convention and yes they were working on the elevator so it took some time to get up and down. Just plan ahead and you are okay.

I stayed at the Marriott for a conference and it appears that they do a lot of conference business. In the lobby there were many conference attendees and flight crews. The rooms were pretty basic, small as one would expect in a city hotel but well maintained and very clean. The elevators are terrible! It literally took 15 minutes for an elevator to arrive. After a few days of this everyone got on an elevator going either way just to be moving! The location of the hotel is very good.
The conference provided food and it was passable at best. the offerings were bland and not very plentiful. In fact they ran out of food at one event!
There is only paid WIFI in rooms and everyone was congregating in the lobby as this was the only area with connectivity.
If I were travelling to Boston other than as a conference attendee I would stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: Do not ask for a high room as the elevator situation is problematic

The day we checked in, Julia was behind the elite counter. She worked diligently to accommodate our requests and her professional & friendly manner made a very good first impression. On our last day, we were in the elite line with at least 6 other guests when one of the 2 attendants decided to announce to her coworker that she was taking a break. I'm sure she deserved & needed one but this did not impress anyone in line.

Our room was spacious and we had a lovely view of the river. It was great to have the fridge & we actually had an ample number of hangers in the closet. On first glance, the bathroom did seem quite small but our stay extended a week and we managed fine. Beds & pillows were comfortable. We did keep the air at 65 degrees all week, on high fan & made sure the drapes were closed so sun did not counter act the cooling. Housekeeping did a fine job and were pleasant to communicate with.

We had access to the concierge lounge and although it was perhaps more compact than others we had used, there was an overflow area in that lobby area & that assisted in accommodating the breakfast crowd in particular.

And now what everyone has mentioned in previous reviews. The elevators. Still a problem and not sure what the timeline actually might be. The technique to get on any elevator going up, that has room, was one we learned quickly to utilize. And we definitely adjusted our time schedule to always build in more time than we would usually have needed.
We have stayed at this property in the past and really enjoy the location. Attached to 2 malls to help with beating the heat as you travel around the downtown.

We stayed at the Marriott for 5 nights. The rooms were good and the staff was pleasant and friendly. The restaurant and bar was good and full, every night as they have PLENTY of televisions. It is a great location and you can walk almost anywhere you want to go. Connected to the mall so you could shop and never have to leave the building.
Work out facility was good and the Concierge floor had a wonderful breakfast in the mornings and appetizers in the afternoon. It offers a great view of the city and the staff is extremely friendly.
HOWEVER, with all the good that it offered.. The elevators were the some of the worst we have dealt with. They were upgrading them and that could have an impact but sometimes the wait was as long as 10 minutes with no one on them.

Room Tip: Request a room that is NOT by elevators as there is a recording of the floor you are on at each stop...

We chose this hotel because it was only a few minute walk from Amtrak Boston Back Bay. It was perfect. My only complaint was the elevators were VERY slow (10-20 minutes). The hotel gave away free wifi to those who complained about the elevators. I guess that's a start but still not real fun to wait that long.

Stayed the weekend with my 15 year old son on a shopping trip. Two malls are attached to the hotel so you don't need to go outside. The rooms are adequate and the staff are lovely. We had a problem with our in room safe and that was fixed immediately. The sports bar was very reasonable and the food was good. The breakfast though was very expensive so we ate in the mall the next day. Taxi from the airport was $30 and we went on a trolley tour which was good fun.
Overall I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for three nights the first week of July and we enjoyed our stay here. Everyone kept talking about slow elevators but it was not an issue with us or anyone in our group. The location is fantastic and since we used the subway system it was in an area in which we didn't have to walk too far to find an entrance. Everyone on staff was friendly and we had absolutely no problems during our stay. I guess the only negative is that there were no shades to keep the room dark in the morning when the sun came up but the beds were very comfortable and we slept well. We were in the hotel for a banquet and the facilities were very very good for that! I would not hesitate to stay here again if ever in Boston!
