We stayed for 3 nights at the Marriot Long Wharf Hotel in Downtown Boston during the Boston Marathon. The hotel has an older nostalgic feel but also had some modern touches as well. Our room was fine, about what you'd expect from an older Marriot property but a little small and basic for what they are charging for a nights stay. They can easily get it though becase this location cant be beat. It is right on the water's edge of Boston harbor just across from the aquarium. Most of the ferry boats and charters are docked there and the trolley tours start there as well. There is a T stop in front of the hotel and it is only 2 subway stops away from the airport on the blue line. Legal Seafood restaurant is just across the street and is a must ... the prices for an outstanding seafood dinner were actually slightly less that what I had expected to pay. The restaurant at the hotel is also pretty good. One really nice thing about staying here was how helpful and friendly the bell hops were. Everytime we left the hotel they asked if we needed directions to where we were going and then they would offer you money saving tips, reccomendations, and even some things to avoid. They were great! Also, there is a S-bucks located right in the hotel lobby. We loved it.

The Marriott Long Wharf is located just off Boston Harbor, it is right across the street from the Boston Aquarium, with a T station (subway) just a few steps away. This gives you great easy access to all of Boston. The airport is only two stops away or a ferry shuttle directly to the Wharf. Tram rides are available just across the street. Our experience was a good one, the rooms were clean, the beds very comfortable, the staff was helpful and respectful. Their is a weight room, sauna's, hot tub, indoor heated swimming pools, a starbucks, and good restaurants. A business center includes internet, printer, and fax machines. The hotel is within walking distance of many of the best restaurants, bars, shopping, and sights and museums in Boston. They had great big screen plasma TV's. Overall it was a great atmosphere, and a real pleasant stay. We recommend it for kids too.

Very accommodating. Reserved 2 rooms, able to check in early to one room that was ready by noon! Able to park car early and keep it there after check out. Great location, near Aquarium, Imax, harbor and park (with playground). Great for families.

We were very happy with the parking and service. The staff were very educated about the area and offered to help with everything. We were able to check in early and leave our car there until 6:00 p.m. the following day. The location was perfect, the T and aquarium are right next to the hotel. Quincy Market is across the street. The room was clean and nicely setup. We have two small children and the pool was a nice treat. Our only compliant was the noise level from the hallway during the night. We were woken up several times by other loud guests returning from a night of partying.

Went with family and friends the weekend of March 6th. The location is terrific, it's next to the Aquarium, across from Faneuil hall and Quincy market. The trolley and ghost tours leave from outfront. the Harbor cruises departs from across the street. It is the best location. The pool is really nice and it's open until 11:00 at night thats a big plus with children and teens.Theres a small gameroom that the kids liked. The workout equipment was topshelf . The rooms were on the small side but nicely appointed with flatscreen tv's, Ipod docks, mini refrigerators, safes that can fit laptops and awsome bedding. The breakfast buffet had a nice varity. It was 17.00 an adult and 7:00 a child.
Overnight parking was 42:00 but you could come and go as you pleased and could use it until 6:00 PM on the day you checked out, that was great if you wanted to stay to do some more sightseeing or shopping. I have to say the the employees were outstanding.
Everyone was friendly, courtious, and knew thier stuff. Hats off to Marriot on their people skills. It's above and beyond far beyond anywhere else I've stayed.I will return there in the future.

Pros - Nice room even though corners were cut in it's cleaning, the likes of the tissue box not being moved to clean the dust in behind it for example. It had a safe, mini refrigerator and the usual extras. It was not a bad size room really. The entrance into the bathroom was the weirdest we ever came across, the doors were like old style saloon doors (two and opened outwards into the room), they were certainly designed for space saving as opposed to fashion or practicality!

Great location in Boston.

Cons - Where do I start? I should point out that I am a big Marriott fan and have never had cause for complaint before but this just fell below standards -

Arrival - The initial impression of this hotel is not good, you have to either go up and escalator or in an elevator which is hard to find, to get to reception, it's probably the least welcoming hotel we've stayed at. A sign directing you upstairs to reception should be the least they should have at the entrance.

Late Check out - Day 1 we asked for a late check till 3 o'clock out on the day of our departure (2 days later) as we were flying that night, we were told we'd have to call back in the morning! That we did and we were again told we would have to call back in the morning, we couldn't see why they couldn't just block off the room, the hotel was not busy. It's the first ever time we came across this in any Boston hotel.

Housekeeping - We arrived back to our room around 10 p.m. on the second night to find that our room had not been attended to. We spoke to reception and the girl called housekeeping in front of me and asked they go do it. We assumed that it would be done by the time we got to the room after we had a drink at the bar, surprise surprise the room still had not been attended to. There was no "do not disturb" sign in the room so it wasn't because we had put this on the door, we couldn't have even if we tried !

Late Check out (again) - We arrived back to our room on check out day to find us locked out of the room (despite us finally getting an agreement on a late check out), we called to reception twice from the house phone and we were told security would be up, they eventually arrived and let us in.

In fairness they did give us some credit on our room rate for "failed service", which I assume is to do with housekeeping not attending the room but overall it was a very dissapointing stay at the Marriott Long Wharf and we won't be back to this hotel I'm afraid, though we will stay with Marriott again.
