“A great hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2013

Every room is a suite, almost every suite has a stunning view over the Charles River.

The location is quite convenient especially for those who come by car. The hotel is in the middle of Boston, Cambridge, Harvard and MIT, and also at the entry point of the major high way. If you drive to here and want to attend meeting in downtown Boston or at Harvard, just take the shuttle bus and leave your car in the parking building which is just annexed to the hotel with an access communicating directly with the lobby.

I stayed here during the whole month of March, the suite was spacious and the gym provided with high level facilities, the indoor pool closed at 11pm and breakfast was served till 10:30am (11am during weekend). Every detail was quite convenient. The staff was absolutely friendly and helpful.

The only regret was the roof top garden was not open at that time, will check it out this coming summer with kids...

Be careful, there are 2 Hilton Doubletree hotels in Boston, one is downtown, this one is not the one in the heart of the city.

Room Tip: Try to ask for the corner suites, there's no window facing the atrium from the salon (more priva...

Wow!! Thank you for the 5 star rating - much appreciated.
I'm glad to hear that your stay for the month of March was a terrific one - the nice thing about our rooms is that they are suites and great for extended stay.
Currently our rooftop terrace is available for private events, but there is a possibility we might open some Friday & Saturday evenings this summer - front desk will notify during check-in times.

We stayed at this hotel for a few nights, it was the hotel recommended for my husband’s course at Harvard.
The hotel is nice. Lobby was under renovation, from what we could see from above it will be very nice and modern when finished. We had a suite on 11th floor with beautiful views over the river and the city. The rooms were spacious and clean, though the furniture is a bit outdated and the dark blue sofa did not really look appealing. The linen and bathroom towels were very clean. Microwave , coffee maker and refrigerator worked fine. The AC was quite loud and at times difficult to set up.
Had drinks once in the hotel bar, not really nice to sit and look at the lobby. There is a roof top terrace, but it was closed in June. Too bad.
There is a gym on the third floor, clean with new equipment. And a small laundry facility just by the fitness room, handy when you travel for long periods of time.
The hotel is a bit out of the way and there is no mean of transport other than their shuttle. The last one departs from downtown Boston at 7pm, if you want dinner in the city count on the taxi fare. That being said, the shuttle is fine and always on time. We also took the T to Harvard square and walked to the hotel, it’s about 20 minutes, nice walk through Cambridge or by the river. River side is great for running.
We bought breakfast at Whole Trade Foods on River st, just 5 min walk from the hotel, on the other side of the river. There is also a Dunkin' Donuts shop across the river, and a Starbucks further down.
Altogether I think the hotel is a good choice if you are mainly in Cambridge or you are ok with depending on the hotel shuttle for going downtown Boston.
One very bad impression were the ladies in the reception, at least some of them. They did not seem to attend too much to their appearance. Their hair needed a comb and they had dirty uneven nails. Sorry, but I cannot help but noticing this when you hand me the chocolate cookie or the room card. I think it is a pity, cause they are your first encounter with the hotel and it doesn’t look that good. Just sloppy.
The maid on our floor had always a big smile on her face and wished us ‘Have fun!’ every time we met her.

Very nice and clean hotel. The lounge was under construction but love the concept. The Welcome Office team was very helpful and assisted with the many questions I had. First time at your property love the room with a Charles view. Jayne is a great asset to your company she was very helpful and friendly. I will be back. Cheers!
If you love Jazz the Sculler Club is the place to be I had a great time.

The Doubletree Hilton in Boston has a great jazz club, Scullers, one of the best jazz venues nationwide. If you get an overnight package with dinner, you get a lot of extras, such as priority seating, free in and out parking, and reduced room rate. The hotel overlooks the Charles River, and is in walking distance to Harvard Square. The rooms have been totally redone since my last visit, and everything was beautiful, super comfy bed with sparkling clean white duvet! Very comfy couch in the living room area of the suite, 2 flat screens, fridge, microwave: a great value for your money, and if you love music, the jazz club is fantastic. We saw a great Ravi Coltrane concert .

This was a great hotel. It put me in the mindframe on an Embassy Suite with the seperate bedroom. I loved the granite counters and the furnishings. The front desk employees were quite accomodating and very friendly. I loved it.

Thank you for the feedback - interestingly enough - we used to be an Embassy Suites back in the day. I can't wait to share your nice comments with the front desk staff.

We've stayed here twice on the 15th floor, overlooking the Charles River. I'd stay here again! You can watch the skulls on the river. You also have a great view of downtown Boston. The common areas are clean and comfortable, and the staff helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for the highest floor possible!

Fabulous stay! The rooms were unusually spacious and attractive, with all the possible amenities. There is a pleasant indoor pool to use. It is a very nice walking distance to both Fenway Park (take the tour!) and the Harvard/Cambridge area. We walked one way to the Freedom Trail attractions, and easily took a subway back from downtown when it started to rain! Be sure to get a room view of the Charles River/Harvard area-delightful sights to wake up to! The breakfast was perfect and free to many Hilton Hhonors members. Ongoing construction was no big deal-we had drinks and dinner that were excellent in the Fusion bar (although the featured wine was $14.50 a glass-ouch!). The only major downside of the location is the lack of easy walking distance to any restaurants (especially when raining)-they gotcha! And the roads around the hotel are just plain nuts-lanes mysteriously disappear-roads curl around in all directions-walkways for pedestrians make no sense! So you do not want to take your car out of the hotel-you just pay the $35 day parking and shut up! All in all, a gem of a hotel!

Room Tip: HIgh room looking at the Charles River is perfect

Thank you for taking the time to provide such positive feedback.
We know how confusing the roads/sidewalks can be - the cities of Boston & Cambridge will be working on these particular roads sometime in the near future. Look forward to seeing you soon.
