The Eliot is a jewel in the city of Boston. Well located for walking to museums, Fenway and restaurants; gracious and friendly staffed; quiet, large and elegant suites. We loved our stay at The Eliot.

Room Tip: Our suite had a king size bed in the bedroom and a pull out couch in the other. Perfectly suited fo...

Right at the intersection of Commonwealth and Massachusetts. Great location to the ball park, dining (Boylston and Newbury), touring, Hop On, Hop Off, great walking distance to everything. We loved the Hotel as it is next to Harvard Club (and they were filming Whitey Bulger story while we were next door)! We got a corner suite and it was cozy and romantic. Bathroom facilities were more like Paris or London circa 1950 but everything updated, clean and accessible. The room was quiet and the layout was very comfortable. The staff was very responsive, service was great and we always left our key to our room at the Reception Desk. This was not like the Marriott Marque that we had just spent a week in at Times Square but it also didn't cost us over $800./night! Their restaurant is convenient and the food was excellent. However, we also had great dining selections just a few blocks away. Of course, the weather was super and it was Boston at its Best. We'll definitely be back to the Eliot Hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get outside rooms depending on number of people in party as we well as availability. See we...

the hotel still uses the heavy key on a brass key-chain and they still have the hotel check-in with the boxes that hold the keys just like an old luxury hotel in London or from the movies! Loved that my kids could see what hotels were like way back when. From the doorman to the front desk folks to the yummy brownies left on the desk after check-in its a fabulous hotel! location is awesome in downtown Boston. we walked to Harvard and back then to dinner on Charles st. and of course shopping on Newberry were steps away. Breakfast was fantastic. bathroom was luxurious. loved our stay! would recommend very highly! Bed was so comfy after a day of non stop walking!!

just stayed here and have to say this hotel ideally situated for Newbury street boston
literally across the road for all the shops and restaurants and parks. One thing we found expensive was the drinks i hotel bar which was a shame as we wod of liked to drink in there more but at 36.00 dollars for 2 wines we decided to move on. All in all a lovely hotel rooms were clean would recommend for location alone

This hotel was located in the "Back Bay" area, perfect walking distance to shops, restaurants, parks, 1-1/2 blocks from Fenway, really a great location. I'd rather stay here then downtown near the Harbor.

Room Tip: We chose a 1 room suite, it was perfect!

Myself, husband & 2 children stayed in a suit in July after coming from new York where our room had been tiny. The room was amazing and large. The location perfect. The kids had what seemed like a whole room to selves with their own tv. The staff were super sweet & kids were given fab travel diary books on arrival to fill in along with another bag of crayons and a colouring book. Cold bottled water was given & offered at front desk whenever entering & exiting the hotel. Fab !

We live in the Boston suburbs, and stayed at the Eliot to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is located on the corner of Commonwealth Ave and Mass Ave in Boston - just a 10 minute walk to Fenway Park (we went to a Sox game).

Pros: Absolutely gorgeous room! The room was a suite, with very classic decor, and everything you need to settle in and relax. We had a king sized bed, two night stands, a dresser and a flat screen TV in the bedroom. In the living room, we had a couch, two cozy chairs, another flat screen TV, and a desk and office chair. We also had a separate bar room with a sink, wine glasses, corkscrew, coffee maker and mugs - and the mini bar items were relatively affordable. Then a foyer with a dresser, plus a hall with a nice sized closet, and a lovely bathroom. This hotel has actual keys rather than electronic key cards, which I think is GREAT, as those key cards always seem to deactivate on me. Staff were friendly, and room service food was fast and delicious, and not as expensive as I would have expected. As I mentioned, location was awesome.

Cons: It is pricey - we got a deal on Expedia, and it was still over $450/night including tax. There is only valet parking, and they get you for another $36 there. But for Boston, that's not really over the top. As far as the room, there was no bathtub, which would have been nice, but the shower was great. Also, the curtains wouldn't shut tight, so at 5:45am I had sunlight shining in my face. I rigged it up with something, but blackout curtains would have been good. Other than that, I loved the suite.

All in all, it was just what we wanted for a special occasion, and I would recommend to others looking for an upscale hotel in a great part of the city that has a lot more character than many of the local chains.
