We stayed in room 709. Excellent staff. Excellent facilities. Very comfortable bed in a well-furnished room. Excellent breakfast. Bar good and offerings include 'Death's Door Gin'!. Location excellent, within walking distance of Newbury Street and the subway/T (Hynes Station). Bathroom a little small (no bath) and lacking in surface space. Weak ventilation meant steamed up mirrors!
Had a very enjoyable stay at this establishment and would definitely consider staying again.

Room Tip: Higher floors for less street noise.

The hotels is in a fantastic location, right next to the Harvard Club. The staff is friendly, courteous and solicitous. The rooms are large, suites, renovated and comfortable. The problem with the place is that is is "old school", feels more like an apartment building, the lobby is small and the reception area is tiny. Some people may like that feel, though. I did not like the old style keys, which were clunky and you had to leave with reception each time because they were hard to carry. I don't understand why they did not replace the locks with passkeys as everyone else has done, even in historical hotels such as the Algonquin in New York. The AC was noisy. All in all, a good place, but be prepared to pay top dollar.

Our stay was amazing. Every one we encountered was pleasant, helpful, and always willing to answer any questions we may have had. The T was around the corner, valet parking, close to it all! It may cost a bit more than other hotels close by but there is no comparison. So worth the price

My wife and I stayed for a reunion weekend visit in a ninth floor suite with a view of the Great Dome. The location at Mass Ave and Commonwealth is excellent for visiting the Back Bay, within easy and safe walking distance of several nice restaurants. We enjoyed and would recommend Deuxave, L'Espalier and La Voile. The front desk staff were friendly and housekeeping staff helpful.
The weaknesses which prevent a very good rating were strong and several. The doormen only opened the Hotel door when we first arrived in a cab with luggage. They actually seemed to impede the small entrance at times when we were walking out. Never again did they open the doors, coming or going. It's a far cry from the Four Seasons where the doormen learn and greet you by name.
The bed linen was nowhere near fine, more like what one would expect in a roadside motel. Our suite's seating area windows, looking out over the Harvard Club, were terribly grimy and Housekeeping explained they could not clean them from within the room.
But then, the location of The Eliot is terrific....

spend 2 nights in one Suite Room. unfortunalty the Room was extremly loud ( aircon and a 100 KB Generator next to the Bed Room.
Location is good with a lot of nice Bars and restaurants near by. probably a good place to stay if you get a better Room.

Room Tip: do not stay at Room 310 but not sure about other rooms facing same direction

Really neat boutique hotel located on corner of Mass Ave. and Commonwealth. Two fine
eateries on site and Trip Advisor's #1 Boston restaurant is just across the street--all three fit
for foodies. The room was fine and included a sitting area, but the terrific location in one of
America's best walking cities made the hotel a great value. And kudos to a fine staff up to and
including the gentleman who makes pulling up on a very busy corner a piece of cake.

Room Tip: Mid-week arrival netted an upgrade.
