“Good hotel in a great location, but way overpriced !”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

The hotel is 5*, I know that, because it provides a number of services. The room -to me- could very well be only 4*. It's a good room, good size, comfortable bed, only a bit tired, old fashioned also, no "wow" factor. But I loved the location : Theater District, close to shopping, quite a number of terraces in the neighborhoud for lunch, dinner or just coffee.
I hated the price I had to pay for it : 199 €, which at the moment I made my reservation (6 months before staying) was one of the cheaper options. Just to say how expensive Boston is. Incredible ! And why ????
Beware : very expensive wifi (10$/day)

Hello, dezdemona,Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback on your most recent stay here at Hyatt Regency Boston. We are so glad you found our location to be convenient! Located right in the heart of the Theater District, our hotel has hundreds of shops just steps away! I do apologize if you found hotel rates in Boston to be higher than expected. During the time you came to visit, the 100+ colleges in Massachusetts were getting back into session, leaving the city pressed for hotels! We hope the next time you stay with us you find out rates to be more appealing. Best, Emily qualitybosto@hyatt.com

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency this following weekend to watch my best friend Krista marry the love of her life James! Everything was perfect and their day was amazing, followed by an even more amazing night! The venue and food were outstanding and the staff was more than accommodating! I would just like to thank everyone at the Hyatt for making the experience for my friends wedding one to remember more for them then for myself, everything you did to help these two marry one another is beyond words. Thank You!

My room was nice as well as quiet which is always a nice find in a hotel. The bathroom however was small from what I am used to. They did provide toothpaste in case you forgot yours with the new air travel regulations which was nice. FYI, You walk in the entrance and then have to take an elevator up 3 floors to the lobby and then another set of elevators to your room. The elevators were SLOW so leave early if you need to make an appointment. If you end up here attending a convention at the convention center, plan on taxi rides to and from of about $10 each way and possibly more if the traffic is bad as it tends to be at rush hour when you need to travel. There is not much of a lobby bar compared to other hotels I have stayed at. The wireless speed seemed to be good but your pay $9.95/day

Room Tip: Higher the better since you are donwtown

Wanted the luxury of a higher end hotel but was disappointed. Staff were great! Avenue One Restaurant was very good. Nothing special about this hotel. Location was about 10-12 minute walk to Fanueil Hall and Boston Harbour Cruises.

The hotel staff was GREAT. From the manager (Joseph), to housekeeping, to restaurant staff. The hotel has a strange configuration with an elevator to the lobby and then another elevator to the rooms. So the lobby is on the 3rd floor, The pool is on the 6th floor and the rooms above. Not so convenient to navigate (and often had to wait for elevators), but for $200+ cheaper than other hotels of this quality, we went for the deal. The hotel was "tired" and looked like it was under renovations, but it was very clean. Location is not really close to tourist activities we wanted to do for kids, but then again it was in the middle of lots ($10-$20 cab ride in any direction). Parking and internet are NOT included in the rate. The hotel did wave the internet fee though for me with a simple request because I was under the impression it was included. A Snapple was $4 in the gift shop, but there are refrigerators in the room, so if you plan ahead you can bring your own drinks.....

Thank you to the staff at Hyatt Regency Boston for making our stay memorable. You are all very kind, generous and talented. We enjoyed our trip so much more because of you. Keep up the good work. Thank you for taking care to give us a nice room when the one we booked was not available, for the robes in the closet, for the clean rooms, the comfortable beds, the safe atmosphere, the guidance, the patience and the ideal location. Sure the bathrooms need to be renovated but that's ok, I know you'll get to it. The most important thing is that the rooms were clean, the towels fresh, the comfortable beds and the quiet.

Room Tip: We reserved a suite which was perfect.

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency for a few nights earlier this month while attending a business conference. The staff was very pleasant and they nicely gave me an early check-in. The room was nice----fairly typical Hyatt standard---and had a downtown view. I would probably give the hotel 4 stars based on service and room quality. I just didn't love the basic structure and layout of the hotel. The lobby is a short elevator ride away from ground level. The lobby and other common spaces seemed to turn their back on the outside and had very little natural light. Also, the hotel had very little Boston character. As I say, I didn't dislike the hotel, I just didn't love it. I did think the hotel was a fair value.

Hello, iowaguy, Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments regarding your recent stay. I am sorry to hear that you didn't love your stay. We strive for absolute perfection and are sorry that we missed the mark. The hotel has quite a unique design. Designed to incorporate a residence-like feel in the heart of the city, the building can feel a bit out of place. Please be in touch during your next visit to Boston. We are undergoing a renovation and would love a chance to welcome you back to hear your thoughts! Best, Emily qualitybosto@hyatt.com
