What makes this place special are the people. You could stay at one of the larger hotels nearby that have more modern rooms, large open lobbies, etc. This place is an older hotel, well maintained, but with it's lovable quirks. The floor in our room (925 - good room with a decent view) sloped slightly, the stairs, which our kids loved to take daily, are narrow and winding - all of this adds charm! The lobby is not large an modern but smaller with a fireplace and a nice place to hang out and watch people. The staff is as good as I have experienced at much more expensive hotels - think The Ritz. Everyone from the doorman (Peter was great in suggesting local places to dine!) to the front desk, to the bartenders...you get the picture. The price-point is similar to the Marriot but I would much rather stay here with this amazing staff
