“Great Place to Stay in Boston”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

Lovely hotel centrally located near shops, restaurants, and parks. Super clean, extremely friendly, excellent service, great location, what more can I say? Check in was fast and we got a complimentary upgrade to a King suite with a street view when I asked if a room with a view was available. A few minutes after arriving in our room, we received a call from the desk asking if everything in our room was satisfactory. Needless to say, everything was superb! The Lenox just provides exemplary service at all levels. After a hot day out in Boston, walking into the lobby is like transferring yourself into a cool, calm oasis of elegance!

From the moment my family arrived, we felt like part of the Lenox Family. Within minutes of our warm welcome at the front desk, the Bellman had a stuffed Lenox Lion for our little one. Once we arrived in our room, within 10 minutes they were delivering a bottle of wine and a childrens book. We haven't received a welcome like this at a hotel...probably ever. Great hotel, great location, no way I would stay anywhere else in Boston when we go again. The Lenox is the place to be!

Check in was a breeze and the bellman was very helpful in getting us a different room once he noticed how much luggage we had. Our original room has a very small closet. The frontdesk came up and took us to an alternate room which was much better. The bellman also suggest some local places for breakfasts and lunch. The concierge made wonderful dinner recommendations including Atlantic Fish Company which was right down the street and absolutely amazing. The rooms were not large, about what you'd expect from an old hotel, but very comfortable. The location was excellent as we could walk to about everywhere including the Fenway Park (about 20 minutes each way). One of the best hotel experiences we've had.

Room Tip: The room with two queen sized beds had much more room then the king.

We arrived in the evening of July 3rd, 2014. The city was full of activity for the early Fourth of July festivities because the the impending storm. The hotel staff from the doorman, bellman and the front desk was superb. We've traveled extensively throughout our lives and have NEVER encountered this incredible service, except maybe the peninsula hotel in Kowloon.

Green Features: Green hotel, one of the first in the area. Recycling in rooms. Linen reuse.

Classy, fantastic service, fastest wireless internet of any hotel in the area. Look forward to booking more stays. Walking in the front door is an experience in and if itself. Your senses are greeted with a distinguished notion that Lenox knows hotels, and Lenox knows service. Surrounded by so many Boston attraction within walking distance, you'll know after a single night, this us THE place to stay in the area.

I stayed here in June 2014 with my young daughter. We travelled to Boston for a hospital appointment and were pleased to hear The Lenox offers a medical rate for those staying with hospital appointments in the area. It was a very convenient location being just a 10 minute cab ride from the hospital, but in the centre of Boston's Back Bay area for dining and shopping. The reception staff were very welcoming with genuine smiles all around - even offering a cuddly toy to my daughter on arrival (which she has named "Lenox"!). Each time we returned to the hotel, the door staff greeted us by name (we shared the same surname, so I guess I was easier to remember!) and we were welcomed back with the same enthusiasm from reception. The hotel certainly has an air of European elegance of a time gone-by, but with a sympathetic shift to more modern conveniences. The room was pleasant, but the bathroom was small. I was disappointed not to have a coffee maker in the room (as I even brought my own t-bags - being frightfully English!), although they did provide unlimited bottled water for free. We also appreciated the free Wi-fi. One thing which the hotel could not help, but the street noise of the terrible electric guitar busker was pretty dreadful - luckily he packed up by 9pm! My daughter looked forward to the turn-down service each evening as the hotel left two Lindt chocolate truffles on the pillow!! (Incidentally the Lindt Chocolate shop is right below the hotel ....) We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and the wait staff were very attentive. The food was fine, especially the tuna tartare, but we chose not to eat there again for dinner - one of the reasons was how very cold it was in there. We did have breakfast there once and the food was plentiful. The concierge, Nate, was absolutely fabulous. He made several excellent dinner suggestions for us within walking distance and also arranged check-in for our flights home. He was very professional with a friendly (but not too familiar) tone. I would definately stay here again on a future visit to Boston as we enjoyed the location, staff, friendliness and low-key ambience.

Room Tip: If you have a room facing the Public Library - be prepared for the street busker's lack of music...

Green Features: Nice to see recycling bins provided in the rooms, but unless you are from Boston or the US, I was unsure of what should be put in each bin!

We live south of Boston and don't really need to stay in a hotel, but we like to go in town for a nice dinner and wine and occasionally a show. We have stayed at the Lenox numerous times now and the staff are exceptional. I will note the ones who stand out the most to me: Sid- For being so generous and so good when we go in with my niece. He has given her stuffed animals and nice treats that she remembers him by name now. Peter- very nice man who always has a smile when we leave to get our car; Mike- also a great guy who has helped us with our luggage and car; I can't mention the people enough. The Lenox is so lucky to have them since they are the reason we stay there so close to home because we feel like we are staying with our family. They are the best.
