“Absolutley Fabulous”
Reviewed 20 March 2009

Myself and my Husband stayed here for ou 10th wedding Anniversary. I emailed the hotel before leaving the UK and they gave us a free upgrade to a Junior Suite. On our arrival the staff congratulated on our anniversary and informed us that whatever we needed to make our stay special, we were only to ask.
When entered our room and wow. Large, comfortable bed with nightly turn down service, that included bottled water and chocolates.
The staff were outstanding, we were greeted in a friendly and helpful way everyday. All the staff are approachable and knowledgeable of the area.
We did not try the hotel restaurant but heard from other residents that it was good.
Overall, the stay was a memorable and enjoyable experience and will definatley return to the Lenox.

I think the Lenox gets overshadowed in this city by other hotels such as the new Mandarin Oriental, 4 Seasons, the Taj, and such -- but the smaller size of this hotel really lends to greater service and detail from the staff. In the hotel there is Azure, one of my favorite restaurants in Boston -- and City Bar, a very swank and hopping bar at night. In addition, it's in an ideal location for visitors, as it is in the middle of the Back Bay, so walking distance to everything. But really, it's just a high quality hotel -- I only put the value as 3 stars because it can be expensive, a;though recently deals were found on hotels.com.

The Lenox was perfect from the time we got there until we left! EVERYTHING was perfect! People nice and service great! Room was clean and nice and spacious. Location was perfect...right next to the Prudential Center, only a block away from Newbury Street and the T station...We walked all over Boston from there and it was just the perfect place to stay!!! Price was right too! Very reasonable in November!

We stayed here for 2 nights after a trip to Vermont to go Snowboarding. We turned up looking a little bit scruffy and casual, the hotel looked so posh we thought we might get a frosty reception, but they could not have been more happy to see us, asking about our trip and the snow conditions. They stored all of snowboarding stuff for us so that we didn't have to have it in our rooms too, more than helpful. The irish bar was most welcome after a long day. The rooms are lovely, lots of character and nice touches like robes, cookies on your pillow at night, nice toiletries and free bottled water. I also liked that there is a recycling bin in the room too.

The conceige and door men were really helpful. One night they gave us their card to give to the restaurant as we hadn't make a reservation and it was 8pm on a Friday night, this meant that we were instantly given a table ahead of a least 20 other diners, we treated like VIP's for the whole meal! The restaurant was Abe & Louis, which is just across the road and serves amazing steaks, a must if you are in Boston. Another favourite for lunch was the Cheesecake Factory which is on the shopping mall next door, huge portions of good food, the most extensive menu I have every seen and of couse cheesecake to die for!

Can't wait to go back to the Lennox and Boston, perhaps in the summer when it is not 10 below freezing!

We just got back from a weekend in Boston. We chose the Lenox Hotel after finding a great deal on travelzoo.com. We got a Classic room for $129 a night, which was a good price. Although the classic room is very basic, it was good enough for us to stay for a couple of nights - we weren't in the room very much anyway. Our room was small but nice and clean, with a Queen sized bed. The bathroom was also very small, with only a shower stall (no tub). But, my friends who were staying in the hotel had a bigger room, so that just depends on the style room you end up with. Also in the room, there was a fridge you could use to put drinks in, which included a complimentary bottle of water (BTW, if you stay here, there is also complimentary bottled water in the fitness center for guests). There was an in-room safe available, which is always nice when you're traveling. One downside to parking your car at the hotel is that it cost $41 a day for the valet. We knew that beforehand, but used it anyway for the convenience, but if you really want to save money, I'm sure you can find a parking garage that is cheaper per 24 hours - or consider parking a little outside the city and taking the train or subway in to the hotel.

As far as location goes, that depends what you plan on doing in Boston. The Lenox is in the Back Bay section of the city. But, if you are familiar with using the subway system ("the T"), you will be able to get wherever you want to go. The hotel is very close to the Copley T stop on the green line. From the Lenox, the Prudential Center is just a couple of blocks away, as well as lots of places to shop (we didn't do any shopping this trip), and there are a bunch of bars and restaurants too. We walked to Fenway park from the hotel, in about 15-20 minutes (as another point of reference).

The service at the hotel is wonderful! I can't say enough about it. From the minute we pulled our car up at the door, the valets and bellmen were so friendly. They welcomed us immediately, and the service and friendly staff did not stop the whole weekend. Any time we stepped in the door, off the elevator, or anywhere else in the hotel, there was someone there to give a friendly hello, help us with directions, or give other help. For any weaknesses you may find with this hotel, the service of the friendly staff will more than make up for it.

Overall, I really liked the Lenox - it was a great hotel for us to do some exploring of Boston's Back Bay!

If you are wanting to walk around Boston and do some sight seeing, I would not recommend this hotel. If you want to shop at places like Coach and Armani, then you are right in the middle of Copley. It was too far from anything to walk and we ended up taking mostly cabs. Try the Omni Parker House.

This hotel is VERY expensive and the rooms are NOT worth the money. We had a delux king room. The room was just like any marriot, holiday in or howard jouhnson. The staff was very friendly, and the rooms were clean. Be aware that this is pretty much the only hotel I have ever been to in Boston that actually charges you to park your car on top of your room charge ($43 for 24 hours).

I would not stay there again.

I simply cannot say enough about the kindness and efficiency of the gracious staff of this historic hotel. As beautifully restored as the Lenox is, it is the caring attitude of its marvelous employees that makes it stand out as unique in the very best sense.

And after ensconcing myself next to the fireplace in the lobby for the afternoon (happily reading purchases from the Boston Public Library Sale), I was able to witness that the staff are this way to EVERYONE--from the honeymoon couple canoodling on the sofa to the aupair playing Go Fish with her charge and the businessman proclaiming success to his colleagues.

Each member of the staff makes you feel sincerely cared for, no matter why or how long you are there. Their attitude brightened a gloomy February afternoon even more than the fireplace and good reads! Please, don't miss this one!

  • Liked — The thoughtful staff
  • Disliked — Nothing--everything superior, and I'm not using hbyperbole.
