The Langham trades on an olde worlde image of decor and style. I enjoyed the large room and comfortable bed but was irritated by slow room service, glasses unwashed but covered by a fancy cardboard lid, a coffee maker that didn't work - reported to no avail - and 'period' lamps with twiddly revolving switches which were a nightly challenge to turn on and off. The concierge staff and the 'turn down' staff were exemplary of service with a genuine smile.

Just got back from a wonderful trip to Boston and loved staying at the Langham, formerly the Federal Reserve Bank. The hotel screams luxury from the formal doormen to the lavish common areas and tasteful rooms. It's in the heart of the Financial District, next to the Post Office Square park and walking distance to Boston Common, Faneuil Hall, the North End and the South Boston. The concierge staff was great at providing dining recommendations, travel tips and so much more. The hotel offers turndown service and all sorts of little touches that make you feel like you're in a special place. I would definitely stay at the Langham again and would recommend it. We literally parked our car at the hotel and walked everywhere.

Room Tip: The Superior Room is perfect: large closet, tub and shower, king-sized bed, coffeemaker, table with...

Checked in for several nights and had a great time. The staff was extremely profession and catered to our every need. The room was comfortable, clean and updated recently. The hotels decor is beautiful and extremely well maintained. The hotel resturant was clean and the staff was extremely tentative to there customers needs. I would definitely recommend the hotel to any and all persons visiting the boston area.

Room Tip: book early and stay often

I love the Langham - maybe it's because I am part of their loyalty program and receive the associated perks, but I am always delighted by my stays at this hotel. It is old-world charm but without being stuffy or chabby chic as some other hotels come off. The staff is lovely (not to mention their delightful British accents are certainly "ear candy" for us Americans) and accommodating and willing to go out of their way in order to ensure a solid experience. I even find the doormen to be incredibly chipper and helpful.

To give just one example, one time I left my clothes strewn across my bed as I rushed from a business meeting to a networking dinner and when I came back, the turndown service not only left me slippers, a chocolate, and a lovely turn down, but also had hung up all of my clothes! it's the little things folks!

Lastly, in regards to location, this hotel is prime. It is close to all of the businesses in the Financial District but also only a short jaunt to Fanuil Hall and Beacon Hill for dinner/nightlife.

The location of this hotel couldn't be better. It is essentially a 5 - 10 minute walk to just about everything and anything that you would want to do in Boston. We had two events(Bruins Hockey in the afternoon and a play in the evening) planned for the weekend and we were able to walk to both of them very easily. The lobby is interesting but sparse with touch of elegance.
The rooms are very nice and the beds quite comfortable.
My only complaint would be the fact that the front desk seemed to be short handed. When checking in on Saturday morning there was two people at the front desk with 6 people in line. It took over 20 minutes to finally get to the front. The same thing happened upon check out (you need to return the minibar keys to the desk). Once again two people at the desk with a line of 6 people. We had to make it to the airport for a flight and were afraid that it would make us late.
Fortunately there isn't any traffic to speak of on Sundays and we made it to the airport in less than 10 minutes.

We had a great stay at the hotel. It is just a short walk to Faneuil Hall. We were on the 7th floor, not much a view but the room was what we expected and the hotel itself was very clean and classy. I would say we sort off got off on the wrong foot. The valet guy that we dealt with when we arrived wasn't very nice. There is a law about bringing beer into a hotel in Boston. Never knew it even existed, but it does exist. We were unpacking the car, and his tone about bringing in beer was right out rude. There are ways to speak, and he obviously missed that class. It really dampened the first impressions of what we thought of the hotel. However reservation associates were great and the rest of the staff was awesome. Great follow up to tell us the room was ready and they put us close to our friends on the 7th floor.

Would I stay here again?

Yes - but it might not be my first choice because of that one associate.

Room Tip: rooms on the 4th floor have 12 feet ceilings, makes it feel like the rooms are huge

Dear NorwoodDave,

Thank you for your review of your stay at The Langham, Boston. I am pleased to read that you had overall an enjoyable stay with us and found our location within walking distance to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market ideal. We are disappointed to learn that you encountered a shortfall in service with the Valet. Although they are an outside company, we have addressed with all of the Valet as well as our Doorman and Front of House colleagues the importance of guest service and guest interaction, and have reviewed the correct process for informing guests of the strict alcohol policy in Boston politely. We hope that this incident will not prevent you from staying at The Langham, Boston in the future.

Overall, the Langham is a great spot. It is in the financial district so it is quiet at night and not quite as much going on in the direct area. It is only about 15-20 minutes from the airport and walking distance to all the major sites (north end 15 minutes, Quincy market 5 minutes, right by the middle
Part of the freedom trail)

The restaurant/bar on the property called Bond has gorgeous high ceilings and chandeliers. Stunning to walk in to. However service is sooooo slow in here for food or drink. When paying $15 dollars for a drink, I expect it not to take 15 minutes. We went several nights and ordered appetizers and it took literally 45 minutes. We would have to flag the server down for everything, she never stopped by on her own. However once received everything, it was delicious.

The lobby has a grand nice feel. Our room had a king bed and it was a little hard for my liking but the room
Overall was very nice.

With the exception of one operator on the phone who seemed appalled that I asked for an extra pillow, the staff was very courteous and overall very helpful.

When comparing this to rhe langham in Pasadena, CA it is not quite as grand or awe inspiring but I would definitely stay here again in the future.
