Was a wonderful stay for a conference I attended. The staff was very gracious and quickly got me checked in. The room was very clean and comfortable and the bed turn-down at night was most appreciated. The Lobster Bisque was AWESOME! I would definitely stay again!

It was a five star experience all the way. I came in on a red eye and they got me a room right away and there were chocolates on the pillow :) Service was great and WIFI was free ! The gym was open late as well. I wish I had more than just a night to stay there.

A fantastic Hotel in a great area with Great Staff, Great Hospitality, Great Food and Drink. Ideal for a special occasion. The history of the langham speaks volumes and the staff and decor fill this criteria. The Health Club is also very good and ideal to unwind after a busy day around Boston.

This was a second chance for Langham, since my first vist had a bad technology experience. The business center would print a boarding pass on the first visit and the in room Wifi was terrible. Second visit, the business center computers still lock up when half way through a Delta airline check in process, nothing had been done about this in the 4 weeks since my earlier visit. The in-room wifi was better primarily because they gave me the upgraded $17 "faster wifi" for free. "Why have slow and fast wifi?"

The hotel still doesn't get it when it comes to technology.

In addition, the free shoe shine cost me $350 as the shine staff wrecked my shoes. I left a message for someone at the hotel to contact me about my property damage but no one ever followed up.

I am done with these guys.

Dear tcfick,
Thank you for your review of your stay at The Langham, Boston. We are very disappointed to learn that your stay did not meet your expectations and that you are still dissatisfied with the Wireless internet as well as the Business Center computers. The hotel has made the decision to increase the bandwidth for our internet offering, which should have an improved result in the usage of this service and we will implement this during the next weeks. We will be reaching out to you regarding your overall stay and specifically regarding the shoe shine. We appreciate your feedback and hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back to The Langham, Boston.

Had a great stay here with my wife. Hotel is well placed in the financial district and offers great service. The staff are very helpful - the concierge arranged an excellent hire car deal for us. The Bond Restaurant is well worth a visit too. I would definitely return here next time I am in Boston.

My review of the Langham is tainted by the fact that upon arrival both our Passports and Money was stolen/lost (cab drove off with our bag), however, the staff on duty on the night of 2nd April were amazing in aiding our plight even before we had stepped of the pavement.

All avenues to retrieve our bag were covered without any hesitation or prompt, they are surely as said in many reviews the best Hotel staff you will ever come into contact with?

We were quickly settled into our room whilst the team went to work contacting everyone possible to retrieve the bag, unfortunately the bag was never retrieved and it obviously ruined what should have been a fantastic visit to this beautiful city.

The Hotel is situated in a enviable position, within easy walking distance of 90% of the sites, including the Harbour.

The Taxi fare to the Hotel was $20 and took around 10 minutes.

Room was large by London/European standards and furnished impeccably in addition to being spotless. (Superior room booked on Expedia $200 a night)

If you are thinking Boston, think Langham before committing to any other Hotel.

Throughout our stay staff asked we had found our bag as though we had known them years which gradually softened the situation we found ourselves in and helped us enjoy the stay now looking back after the pain and anguish have faded.

I have been very lucky given some of the hotels I have stayed in and this Hotel ranks right up there and should we ever return we would not consider any other hotel.

By way of apology.
To the management and staff of the Langham, if we upset any of your staff by not offering tips for their fantastic service please accept our apologies having to live on $70 for three days in Boston is tough.

General info for visitors to Boston from the UK.
Should you ever require the assistance of the British Consulate, it it be found at Broadway 1, Cambridge (Red Line to Harvard, get of at Kendall Square) You will require an appointment and photo I D to enter (Which is a challenge when you have lost your passports) However, if/when you do get in the people who look after you are excellent.

My husband has frequently stayed at The Langham when on business, but it was our first time as a couple. We got a good rate by booking very far in advance, but if we had paid upwards of $400 a night as we saw advertised, we would not have felt it was the best value. Still, the good points of this hotel far outweigh the negatives.

Good points:
- great service. We had requested on booking a room on a high floor far from the elevators, and we had been allocated this. Check in was smooth and efficient, and not too overbearing when we were arriving late at night after a long flight.
- excellent location. Short walking distance to the Common in one direction or the harbour in the other. Lots of shopping within a 5 minute walk, and plenty of coffee shops and restaurants around.
- room service was delicious and prompt
- breakfast in the cafe was great, although a bit pricey (as would be expected)
- lots of good points to the room like comfy bed, great coffee machine, well stocked minibar, large wardrobe, no noise from the corridor or other rooms
- really good quality towels and robes; very clean and they seem brand new. Housekeeping, both the main clean and turn down, is excellent.
- some really nice touches like complimentary chocolates on arrival as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and on one of the nights they put roses on the bed at turn down. The chocolates put on the pillows each night are really high quality and excellently presented in a little box.

Negative points:
- the air conditioning in our room was extremely noisy, making a rattling sound and periodically a very large bang/thump. We asked for this to be fixed on our first day and they did send an engineer, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Luckily we always travel with ear plugs so we managed fine. To be fair, the reception staff were very eager to help and I'm sure if we had complained again after the initial problem, they would have moved our room. As it was, we had unpacked and settled in and decided to just manage with our earplugs.
- the bathroom was poorly designed. My husband points out that it is perhaps more geared towards male business travellers, but I would argue this is no excuse! It is just little things like the toilet roll holder being in a bizarre place (low down to the left of the toilet at an arm's reach away, requiring a very strange manoeuvre to get paper!) The bath with shower over it has very narrow sides with very little space to keep your shampoo etc, meaning things keep falling off while you are showering. Most annoyingly, there is hardly anywhere to hang towels - just one hook on the back of the door. In a really bad design element, the only full length mirror in the room is also on the back of the bathroom door, which isn't great anyway because it gets steamed up and there isn't space to stand far enough back to get a good full length view - but it is rendered useless by the fact that you will always have towels hanging blocking it! I felt the bathroom resembled that of a cheap airport hotel and was really not in keeping with the rest of the hotel.

Overall, the air conditioning and bathroom issues aside, we were very happy with the hotel. We would not have wanted to pay $400 a night, but at our rate of around $230 a night we were very pleased. If you can book in advance and get a good price, we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room with a park view, far from elevators
